I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help. One of my Rottweiler puppies, now 2 years old, was brought into urgent care with a dangerous foreign body. Her owner couldn’t afford the life-saving surgery and made the difficult decision to surrender her back to me.
Right now, she is fighting for her life. Surgery is her only chance.
I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t cover the full cost on my own. An incredibly generous person has already stepped in to help, and I’m so deeply grateful — but we still need support.
If you’re able to help in any way, please consider making a donation directly to the clinic on her behalf. Every single dollar goes toward giving her a chance to survive and recover.
If she pulls through, she will also need ongoing aftercare, and I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to give her the life she deserves.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. And if you can share this post, it would mean the world.
Thank you all so much for your kindness and support. ❤️

Sticky glue traps are not just only handy to catch rats. Apparently you can also catch cute puppies!
This little guy stepped on one of these traps and got scared and fell with the whole body on it. Luckily we were able to clip the hair off quickly and rescue this poor baby! No more sticky glue traps for this fella!

This guy was recently neutered but decided the cone of shame had to go and he'd rather lick his incision instead! We're using laser therapy to speed up his healing process! I think he enjoyed it!

Apparently you can’t take the large animal vet out of me! My daughter’s school has a small flock of chickens and they noticed that their rooster was not feeling well. I was able to check him out and he appears to have Fowlpox! This is unfortunately a non treatable viral disease! Poor chicky-boo! 🐔 ❤️

Yay! Slowly but surely I am working on my veterinary blog! Sharing stories from my past as a large animal veterinarian and keeping you updated on my life as now small animal veterinarian. Even though I have to admit the large animal world will always be dear to my heart, I love working with small animals too since I am just passionate about veterinary medicine. Animals are my life, professionally and privately and I am extremely blessed to be in this profession. My connection with animals is a gift that I was born with and I can not imaging a life without them.
My blog will hopefully launch beginning of 2025! Stay tuned for more updated and in the meanwhile I will post old and new stories on FB and IG!

Dear valued clients and friends, I am very thankful for all the support, love and friendship I have received from you over the past 9 years. I am blessed that I have met so many wonderful people and animals in those years. I learned so much from you on a personal as well as professional level. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to close Gold Coast Veterinary Service and Consulting Inc. by the end of this year. However, excellent patient care will continue through Dr. Alyssa Shelby at Kokopelli Veterinary Center mobile services! All medical records have been transferred to Kokopelli Veterinary Center.
Some of you might remember Dr. Shelby when she worked part time with me. I love Dr. Shelby’s enthusiasm, motivation, and excellent patient care, and I am confident you will be excited to work with her as well.
Dr Shelby graduated in 2017 from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine where she developed a passion for large animal reproductive medicine. She is happiest when she is out on the road doing various ranch calls. She also has a passion for surgeries. She is looking forward to working with you all and will continue to provide you the quality care you have grown to expect from Gold Coast Veterinary Services. Her contact information is either via phone at the clinic 916-683-4029, Tuesday-Friday 8-5pm or via email at [email protected]. Mobile clinic hours are from Tuesday-Friday, 8-5pm, with exceptions being made for earlier appointments during the summer months to avoid the heat. Dr. Shelby will be seeing all species (including horses!) and will cover heard health, sick appointments, surgery, reproductive work, and health certificates. If you have any questions regarding services or prices please reach out to her directly. Emergency services will not be offered at this time and we refer to UC Davis for after hours emergency services if needed.

Thank you for all your support and if you need to contact me please use [email protected].

Happy New Year

Dr. Varga
