Dr. Julie Swenson, President of AAZV, recently gave a plenary talk at the European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians (EAZWV) conference in Dublin, Ireland, presenting on conservation in Chad and efforts to reintroduce critically endangered scimitar horned oryx, addax, and dama gazelle back into the Sahelo Saharan ecosystem.

It's a great example of the health and conservation work AAZV members are advancing in the field every day, and we're proud to see that work shared on the international stage!

📢 New webinar: An Overview of the New World Screwworm

What is New World Screwworm, and why are zoo and exotic animal professionals paying attention? Join ZAHP on Tuesday, June 16 at 11AM EST for a free Zoom webinar to find out.

New World Screwworm (NWS) is not currently present in the United States, but staying informed is one of the best ways to protect the animals in our care. USDA experts will walk through what you need to know:

🪰 Where the fly is found right now
🛡️ How eradication efforts work
🔍 How to recognize it early

You'll also leave with practical resources to turn to if your facility ever faces concerns about NWS.

This live webinar is RACE approved, so it counts toward continuing education.
