Adoption First Animal Rescue We are an animal rescue located in North Carolina! We specialize in pulling dogs and cats that are set to be euthanized at the local animal shelters.

We also run a pet pantry for those in need in our community. We are a nonprofit animal rescue based in Jacksonville, NC. We currently do dog and cat adoptions. Our beautification project is underway! Our first phase is the memorial flower garden. So grateful to Lowe’s in Surf City for donating 70 bags of mulch and about 40 flowers! This has really helped us get going.

We still are in need of more mulch! Brown shredded mulch.

If anyone would like to donate a few bags of mulch to us it could be dropped off to the rescue center at 114 enterprise street or if you would like to donate cash towards our mulch you can Venmo or PayPal.me/adoptionfirstanimalrescue

🐾 DIET UPDATE: The Tragedy of Emerson 🐾

Please send thoughts, prayers, and extra chin scratches to Emerson, because he is currently living through an absolute crisis.

As many of you know, for Emerson, food is life. If he’s not eating food, he’s thinking about food. If he’s not thinking about food, he’s trying to convince you he hasn’t been fed since 2021.

Well, the vet delivered some news, and Emerson has lost some weight. The good news? He is officially at a perfect, healthy weight for him! 🎉 The bad news? Emerson is deeply offended and incredibly upset about this lifestyle change. The audacity of portion control! 😿

Despite the "starvation" he claims to be enduring, he hasn't lost his charming personality. He is still the sweetest guy who loves to completely engage with you, follow you around, and tell you all about his day (and his empty bowl).

And don't worry—while the meals might be a little more sensible, treats are still life. Emerson always has time for a treat. He will magically appear the second a bag crinkles.

Come say hi to our sweet, slightly-less-chonky boy! He’d love to engage with you, cuddle, and perhaps subtly hint that you should give him a snack. 😋🍖

🥪 🚨 URGENT SANDWICH ORDER INBOUND! 🚨

We’ve got a major order up at the shelter, and frankly, these two are way too cute to consume. Meet BLT and Turkey Club! 🐾

Yes, they are named after your favorite diner lunches. No, they do not come with a side of fries (though they do come with plenty of toe beans).

The Menu Breakdown:
BLT 🥓🥬🍅: Crispy? No. A little crunchy at first? Maybe! BLT can be a tiny bit timid when you first meet them, but give it a few minutes and they will melt right into your lap.

Turkey Club 🦃🥪: Has a few extra layers of personality. A little shy when the room is loud, but absolutely stacked with love once they know they’re safe.

Serve Together or A La Carte?
While they make the ultimate combo meal and would love to be adopted together, BLT and Turkey Club are also totally fine being ordered separately. They just want a forever home where they can transition from "scared little sub" to "confident couch king/queen."

On May 30th, Adoption First Animal Rescue will be welcoming a group of 15 Marines who are generously donating their time and hard work to help us improve our Memorial Walkway & Flower Garden at our rescue facility. 🌸🐾

This is going to be a very labor-intensive project, and with the North Carolina heat, we would love to have drinks and snacks available for them throughout the day as a thank you for their service and support.

We are currently in need of donations such as:
💧 Bottled Water
🍎 Fruit & Grab-and-Go Snacks
🍩 Donuts & Pastries
🥤 Sports Drinks
🍪 Individually Wrapped Snacks

If you would like to donate items, please comment below or message our page! Donations can also be dropped off at Adoption First Animal Rescue prior to May 30th or the morning off. The volunteers will be arriving at 8am!
