We have decided Roxy and Lucy will need new homes. They will be a year old in May and are AKC registered and utd on vaccines. They are very high energy as most young poodles are and with us not being in Texas and them being alone so much of the time we think they would be better placed in a home with a stay at home or retired family. I would love to see them place together but I know that might not be possible. Both have been to puppy classes and did well. Lucy (white) is probably the sweetest most lovable dog we have ever had. She is very needy and doesn’t like to be alone. Roxy the (black phantom) is more laid back not as athletic and a little more stubborn. Both use a dog door, walk on leash, know simple commands and have been crated. They will take time to adjust and I will be extremely picky where they go. They both love kids, other dogs and lots of attention. Please pm if interested. They are located in East Texas and they are not free

I have had several ask me about making my home made dog food.

There some really good sites with lots of information to help if you want to go all in. I do feel like if I added a vitamin source I would be good and there are lots of them out there.

At first I was really concerned with digestive upset but we have never had that at all. Now if you give too much liver you will. So I always stay on the light side.

My basic recipe is
I still feed about 50% kibble so I do not add a vitamin source. As of right now I feed about60-70% protein (pork, chicken, beef, duck, rabbit, venison) are some common ones. About 20-30% veggies and 5-10% organ meat. No more than 5% liver.

I buy frozen veggies and steam them and blend in blender with a little bone
broth (no onion) or water.

I lightly cook my meat and drain it. I prefer local beef and 80/90%. Then I blend my veggies and mix them in and I usually add a can of pumpkin to 10 # of meat.

Sometimes I add eggs at the end about 5 per 10 # meat. I also add ground up egg shells or you can purchase on Amazon.

Then I bag up a weeks work and freeze

They get blueberries and sometimes a spoon of yogurt and or cottage cheese most mornings and 3x a week they get a few sardines. The ones in water not oil.

Lots of people add tumeric but neither of my dogs tolerate it well. Some people add oats and brown rice. But I try to stay away from fillers and carbs. I do add flax seed some.

At first I made smaller portions until I figured out what worked for us. Now I make about 30 # at a time.

As Abby aged she has developed food intolerances. And I tested her through Glacier Peak and she has intolerances to lots of proteins and preservatives and dyes. She chewed her feet and the hair was red and her feet inflamed. We tried so many dog foods and it just got worse. She is much better now that I have been doing this.

In the comments I will add some screen shots of different options.

Also look at your local beef suppliers. I found a lady I get beef from who sells a mix of organ meat for dogs. It’s great for us it’s liver, organs and esophagus which is really good for dogs. I found at the OKC farmers market.

Some of the raw companies have these mixes also. I do feed this raw. But that is all the raw I feed. I have tried raw and it did not work for us.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

When you have that dog that is your soul mate and will do anything for you!! That is Abby, Mike will say she is his dog but nope! Lol. When we got her she was about 4 months old and had lived in a barn with little socializing. We took a chance on her and brought her home and started to work. We had lots of people over back then and she took to them well. Then she and I went to puppy classes and she bloomed. She will do anything I ask of her even when she really doesn’t want to! She is the best for grooming. When she was young I had her on the table almost daily and it paid off. She still jumps on the table for me and she still loves to chase the squirrels but she is starting to slow down a little and I hate it. But she is still in great shape. She has produced lots of therapy, hunting dogs and a few true service dogs! She is still the queen and very spoiled as they all are. I hope everyone finds their special dog. It’s truly good for the soul! And really I have two Pearl and Abby 🤦‍♀️🥰

I spent yesterday and today grooming and making their dog food!

Sometimes things happen in life and we have to make hard decisions. This is one of those time for Amanda Alcantara. She has given these dogs the best home. Unfortunately she is needing to find homes for them. I will attach her post and please contact her. She will be very particular and would like for them to go together. They are from us and we always try to help our PWP families! The below is from Amanda.

As much as I don’t want to do this, I think we need to find a new home for our two standard poodles! With me and the kids living in Oklahoma now (because of my job) and Kevin still working and living in our Texas house and working long hours they are just not getting the attention that they need. They are such great dogs, I just want them to live their best lives and I feel like they aren’t able to do that right now.

I would love for them to be able to stay together if possible! Hallie is almost 6 (July) and Taki just turned 4 this month. They are both crate trained and obviously fully potty trained! They both do well with kids, but Taki especially thrives with children! They have never been around cats, but seem to do well with other dogs.

There will be a small rehoming fee so I can make sure they go to a safe and happy place! I am happy to answer any and all questions! Please share this so I can try and find them the next perfect home!

Omg, I was suppose to travel back to OKC today but, with this winter storm I decided to stay until it’s over. Our issue in ETX with ice is all the trees and that usually means power outages. I wanted to make sure everything here is ok.

So I decided to start my large batch of homemade dog food in the roaster today. In Pearls aging she has developed really bad reflux. I am sure hoping this helps her. I will also be doing the glacier peak test when I get back to see what intolerants she has developed too.

If if all works out like I am hoping I will be posting some recipes and what I find works and doesn’t.

The generators are ready and we should be good in Texas. I just hope Mike does not loose power in OKC!

Stay safe and warm my friends.

Our day so far! Omg, I forgot how beautiful a true black is trimmed short. They look like velvet. Roxie has come along way with her grooming since we got her. She had not been on the table much before. Made me realize why people loved our pups. I will get a picture when she is finished! And yes gets on the trampoline to play by herself. lol!
