POV from today’s ride!
I’m grateful for every horse I’ve had the privilege to be the first person on their back 🫶.With this filly, I plan to also be the last, shes sticking with me!
Excited to continue learning and growing together, because every day is a chance to improve. Starting young horses is a journey of patience, consistency, and connection. 💜

When I first started working with Solo on the pattern, it was ruff not gonna lie.
She was stiff, didn’t offer much bend, would break down to a trot any chance she got, and pulled herself around mainly with her front end.

Now, only a couple of months of consistency later, the changes are huge. She’s learning to stay soft, bend through the turn, engage her hind end, and holding her lope all the way around the barrel.

We still have plenty of fine-tuning to do, but by letting her set the pace, she’s staying confident and comfortable as she learns.
I have no interest in a “hot” or “stubborn” horse on the pattern. Only a willing, relaxed partner 💞

The difference in her is night and day, and I can’t wait to see how much farther this girl is going to go! 🌚🌞

Does your horse pull with their front end or push with their hind?

Ponying young horses is one of my favorite exercises to incorporate when getting them started under saddle!
It helps teach so much ; confidence, patience, manners, focus, and responsiveness — all while keeping the process low-stress and positive.

I still have a few training spots open if you’re ready to give your c**t the best start!

A young horse’s first ride with a rider can go a hundred different ways, and it’s not always calm or pretty. But here’s the thing… Both rider and horse can be confident and comfortable!

This filly has been learning to lead soft, yield her body both on the ground and while being ponied, and trust the process no matter where we go.
When it came time for her first ride, I didn’t throw her into the deep end, we built up to it. We completed her first ride a few weeks ago with a walk around ba****ck, and though I’ve taken it extra slow with this filly due to her individual circumstances, today she trotted with a rider for the first time!

She stayed relaxed, stopped when asked, and even backed up softly. No drama, no tension — just another step forward in her training journey!

With a solid foundation, a smooth stress-free first ride doesn’t look like fireworks… they look boring. And boring is exactly what you want when you’re building a horse to be safe, thoughtful, and willing for years to come. 🎆

This wasn’t perfect — but it was a win!

We started the beginning steps of yielding the hind end. She didn’t fully understand what I was asking, but she stayed with me. She paused, thought about it, and came back calmly — and for a horse prone to big reactions, that’s huge!

Not every breakthrough is flashy. Sometimes, it’s just… not pulling away. 🧠🫶

When I first started working with this mare, bolting was her go-to response for everything.
She didn’t understand pressure and release and was especially reactive if a rope was involved.

I had planned to make a full video explaining how we got here, but honestly, it would’ve been a long one—so here’s the short version: The biggest change came from giving her clear, consistent communication.

We took things to the round pen. Any time she chose to bolt, I redirected her, asked her to move her feet, and then gave her a chance to come back and rest.
I rewarded her for staying—even if she flinched—and always gave her the choice.
And yes, sometimes that meant quite a few laps before she would reset.
But by making sure every cue had meaning and every try was acknowledged, we took the guesswork out of it.

She’s still in training and still learning. But now, she lets me pet her down both sides, approach with a lead rope, and even lead her around the pen without resistance—most of the time.
She still has her moments, but the difference is instead of reacting or shutting down, she’s starting to think and check in.

Each session builds a little more trust and understanding. Progress like this takes patience, feel, and timing—but it’s so worth it!

If your horse needs help gaining confidence, connection, or working through any other training issues, I’ve got a few spots open. Feel free to message me—I’d love to help!

In just 13 sessions together, we’ve made some exciting strides with this smart mare! When I first started working with her — though her owner was doing amazing work through liberty, getting her halter on, and building a solid foundation for trust — she had developed a bolting habit and a fear of ropes. By helping her better understand pressure and release, she’s now more willing to accept the halter, enjoys scratches all over, and is beginning to take the first steps toward leading. Helping horses and owners find that confidence and connection is the heart of what I do. ❤️ If you’re looking for help with your horse or just want to follow the journey, stick around! I’ll be sharing another video showing more of the process and how we got here.

I decided to go ahead and do the first ride with Brooklyn! I normally do the first walk around bare back and since Brooklyn just finished a growth spurt, I figured why not. She did so good, can’t wait to see how far she goes! 🫶 **tstarting
