Yesterday we said goodbye to Kovi. It is impossible to put into words the overwhelming feeling of sadness right now. His mind was still so sharp, but his body was failing. While the pain for us is excruciating, Kovi left this world basking in the warm sunlight, feeling nothing but pure love, right till the end.
To say I owe him everything would be an understatement. He was a rock in the relationship built with my wife, and he was my partner in the truest sense of the word. His patience, enthusiasm and loyalty as I used him to hone my craft and build my business, can never be repaid. In training his focus was unbreakable. He never questioned my judgement, even when put in stressful or dangerous scenarios. He simply trusted, and did. His ability to read my mind was incredible. So many conversations were had without a single word spoken. He was so much more than a dog.
Outside of training, Kovi was the most incredible companion a family could ask for. While he loved to do everything a Malinois is built for, he also loved everyone he met. Everyone. He was genuine in all he did, and the immense gratitude that I feel for having had him in my life can never be fully expressed.
There’s so much more I want to say, but simply don’t have the words.
I love you, Kovi. Until we meet again…
