🍎 Adopt Apple! 🍎

We really need to find a new placement for Apple a foster or forever home for this sweet girl ASAP!! She got so much interest last week at our event, but no one came through for her.

She is a stunning 8 month-old petite beauty bursting with potential! ✨ This active little girl is full of puppy energy and charm. She already has a solid sit, is learning down, and walks nicely on leash. Apple loves to play—whether it’s with a friend or keeping herself entertained—and she’s as sweet as she is smart. 💕

She’s spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Apple is dog-friendly, but she’ll do best with a confident pup who doesn’t mind an occasionally annoying little sister 😅 and with humans who can provide consistent leadership and guidance.

Apple is mostly housebroken and working on staying calm in her crate. What she needs most is someone patient and committed to helping her grow into the amazing dog we know she can be. 🐾 Don’t worry—we’ll be here every step of the way with training support and resources!

🧡 Adopt Penny! 🧡

Penny’s story started on a busy highway in northern NJ, where she was found running alone with no one coming forward to claim her. Our shelter partner reached out for help, and we couldn’t say no.

When she arrived, Penny was underweight, undernourished, and covered in signs of neglect — sores on her back end, overgrown nails, urine staining, and even “happy tail” from wagging through everything she’s been through. Yet somehow, she’s still nothing but love. ❤️

Now in her incredible foster home, Penny is truly thriving. She’s a beautiful brindle girl, under a year old, and she’s learning so much every single day.

Here’s what her foster says about her:
• She’s dog friendly and comfortably plays with dogs up to 30 lbs.
• She gave the pups licky kisses and even shared one with her foster mom.
• She mostly keeps to herself and settles nicely on a dog bed when out of the crate.
• She enjoys rubber chew toys, a spiky ball, and loved her licky mat with blueberry purée.
• Completely housebroken and sleeps through the night.
• She knows sit, stay, and “free.”
• Her tail is healing
• She takes sniffy pack walks and structured solo walks.

Penny has no resource guarding, is gentle, affectionate, and absolutely blossoming with routine and guidance.

She is currently in heat, so we are ideally looking for a foster to adopt home since she will need about six more weeks before she can be spayed.

Thanks to her dedicated foster mom, Penny’s journey to her forever home is already well underway. Now she just needs her person.

Roo is a 7-month-old cattle dog puppy with the cutest little face and a personality full of joy. She’s bright, energetic, and ready for a family who will give her the structure, enrichment, and fun that cattle dogs love.

She absolutely adores other dogs and would make a wonderful buddy for playtime, adventures, or just hanging out together. Roo sleeps great at night, enjoys car rides and baths, and is doing really well with potty training even letting you know when she needs to go out.

Roo already knows “sit, down and come”, loves toys, and is super food-motivated, which makes training easy and fun. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped! All ready for her forever home! 💕🐾💕🐾💕

Major is a handsome, low key boy around 3 to 4 years old who came to us as a stray from an inner city in NJ, and heartbreakingly, no one ever came for him. 💔

Despite his rough start, Major is pure sweetness. He’s calm, gentle, super strong 💪 and underneath it all… a total softie. He travels great, loves car rides, and just takes everything in with those soulful eyes.

His body showed signs of neglect, but with good nutrition and medicated baths, his sores are healing beautifully. His coat is stunning, and he makes the goofiest, most lovable faces. At his first event, he leaned in for affection and even rolled over for pets — his personality is finally coming out.

Major does have a bit of barrier reactivity, so that’s something to be mindful of in a home, but he redirects well. He’s said to be dog friendly (with more testing to come).

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR NALA! 🚨

Pitties and Pals is ready to take Nala but only if we can find her a foster home.

Nala is a 7-year-old, 66 lb lab mix who was surrendered by the only family she ever knew. She’s absolutely stunning, sweet, and gentle… but her world has been turned upside down. Her anxiety, never addressed in her previous home, has escalated in the shelter. She trembles, paces, and searches the parking lot as if looking for her person or a car to take her home. 💔

Despite her fear, Nala is friendly, affectionate, and passed all her temperament testing. She even did OK meeting another dog….she just needs the right, calm match who respects her space.

❌ No cats (they scare her) and ❌ no young children (too overwhelming). A quiet, patient home is exactly what she needs.

Nala is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines. Anxiety medication will likely help her settle and thrive.

👉 The rescue covers ALL foster expenses — food, crate, vet care, preventatives, everything.

🎉 Liam is Adopted! 🐾

This one hits us right in the heart ❤️ and we couldn’t be more grateful to Liam’s amazing family!

Liam was in serious jeopardy, and time was running out. We saw his potential and knew we couldn’t turn away. With the help of Lauren and Howard, Liam went straight to board and train with our wonderful trainer, Laurraine. We couldn’t have been so successful without her guidance — she provided exactly what Liam needed to decompress and thrive.

And shine he did! 🌟 Not only did Liam excel in training, but we also learned he’s dog-friendly despite what his shelter behavior suggested. With structure, patience, and good leadership, Liam truly came into his own.

When a family applied to foster and mentioned wanting to help a dog in need, we immediately thought of Liam. They already had a young female pup, Scarlet, and we had a feeling they’d make the perfect match.

A few weeks later, we were right the dogs adore each other, and the humans fell in love too. Now, you’ll find Liam and Scarlet romping around the yard, walking side by side, and cuddling up together. 🐶❤️🐶

Huge thanks to Liam’s new family for opening their home and hearts, to Laurraine for her incredible training support, and to our founder Donna for stepping up after training. Liam didn’t have to wait long for his happily ever after and that makes it all worth it. 🥰

🌿 Welcome, Esmeralda 🌿

A few weeks ago, we were contacted about a dog who had been dumped and left in heartbreaking condition, severely underweight, frail, and desperately in need of help. She was rushed to the emergency hospital, where she spent several days on IV fluids and underwent multiple tests.

Thankfully, her hematocrit is holding, her protein levels are still low but improving, and she’s finally off fluids and eating several small meals a day. Her f***l and urinalysis both came back negative.

We are incredibly grateful to our partner Stephanie at RBARI for transferring her into their care, where she continued receiving round-the-clock support and further testing. Once she was more stable, she was released into our care.

She’s estimated to be around 8 years old and does have hip dysplasia and arthritis on her x-rays. She also experienced facial swelling after her transfusion, likely due to her extremely low protein levels, and she’s still a bit wobbly on her feet.

Despite everything she’s endured, Esmeralda is gentle, sweet, and incredibly loving. Everyone at the hospital adored her. 🥹 She currently weighs only 25 pounds, but a healthy weight for her would be closer to 35–40 pounds.

We are truly hoping this was solely a starvation case and that nothing more serious is underlying because her condition is beyond inhumane. Now that she’s receiving proper nutrition and consistent care, we are hopeful her numbers will continue to improve. She is better, but she is not out of the woods yet.

We are deeply grateful to our volunteers Tammy, Jed and family for opening their home and hearts to foster her. They’re no strangers to our rescue having adopted two dogs from us already, and they welcomed Esmeralda with so much love. Thank you to Jeff, our VP, for transporting her safely to them. She enjoyed a peaceful first night, chewed on her new bone, slept soundly, and had a wonderful morning even doing all her business outside.

Esmeralda will still require further vetting and ongoing care with us.

This is to help one of our shelter partners. A few of our board members walk during the week and many of our volunteers do as well. We always need walkers and so do they! You can have volunteer for both! Very rewarding, passionate work.

🐾 Volunteer Dog Walkers Needed! Our Dogs Need You! 🐾

This volunteer role isn’t for everyone. It takes heart, commitment, and the ability to show up for the dogs who count on us every single day. 🐾❤️ If you’re someone who can check your feelings at the door and give our animals the calm, consistent, quality time they need, we’d love to meet you.

‼️We’re looking for dependable volunteers who can commit to at least one shift per week. While our schedule is flexible, reliability is incredibly important. Many applicants start the process and never finish, so we are especially hoping for dedicated folks who truly want to be here.

Here’s how volunteering works:
• We begin with a tour of the facility
• New volunteers receive one-on-one training
• You’ll shadow several weeks until you feel confident on your own. Everyone learns at their own pace
• We support you every step of the way

We need help especially during:
• Weekday mornings (9–12)
• Sunday mornings (9–12)

If you can’t commit to the full 9–12 shift, that’s okay, even 9–11 or 10–12 makes a big difference. We’re happy to work within that window. The more hands we have, the more time our dogs get outside of their kennels.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 or older
• Comfortable handling large dogs (50+ lbs)
• Able to commit weekly
• Willing to follow structure, safety, and routine
• Select your shifts in advance on our weekly schedule

Volunteering here is meaningful, emotional, and incredibly rewarding. You’ll become part of a compassionate team and make a true impact on dogs who need consistency, enrichment, and love.
