This past weekend Southeast Hunters chapter hosted its VJP (puppy test), Breed Show, Annual Meeting, and Banquet.
Three puppies from the 'F' litter participated in the test, achieving commendable scores:
Foxy v.d. Südgable 70 points with Justin Harris
Fawn v.d. Südgable 71 points with Casey Bickes, Fern v.d. Südgable 75 points with Freya Sudgable
The exceptional results are a testament to the dedication and hard work of each owner, who have invested considerable time and effort into training their dogs over the past year. I am extremely proud of their accomplishments, and I would like to extend special gratitude to Justin Harris, owner of Destro vom Wirewolf, the sire of this litter, for organizing training days and assisting the owners in preparing for the test.

The “G” litter made their grand arrival yesterday!

This is a repeat breeding of our 2024 “F” litter between Destro vom Wirewolf and Meg vom Briermeister. They “F” litter has shown some fantastic results on natural hunting ability so we decided to do it again!

South Dakota 2025 was one for the books! We had to deal with 3 inches of snow, windshield temps near 0 and gusty winds for a few days but the weather eventually broke and it was perfect by the end of the week. The crew drove more miles scouting than we would like to count, walked and hunted more than we should have on some days but the dogs never complained. They were always geared up ready to go do what they were bred to do. We had a total of 10 dogs with us, aging from almost 10 years old to barely 10 months.
One thing’s for certain, each of us (including the dogs) had an absolute blast and are counting down the days till next year! Justin HarrisJeremy FranksEric EndsleyCaleb Hughes Matt Singley

Fall testing has concluded for most everyone across the country and hunting season is finally here! Would like to congratulate two gentlemen that completed the VGP Utility Test, Mark Jackson and Bayley vd Südgable (Hazel) scoring a 293 Prize 1 and Robert Adams with Edjer vd Südgable scoring a 289 prize 2.
A few of the “F” litter pups have embarked on their first big adventures and hunts including elk hunting in New Mexico, opening day of South Dakota pheasant, and the woods of Wisconsin for grouse and woodcock.

Owner: Justin Harris of Foxy and Destro

Foxy V.D. Südgable (Destro x Meg) working some quail on these cool afternoons. She broke on the first bird and I corrected her with the check cord while launching the bird. 2nd bird was a solid point from a good distance (20-30 steps) I let her work in closer before whoaing once she became more intense. We then worked towards bird one that she bumped earlier and got some nice pictures before I flushed the bird. This was her third time in the field due to the heat this summer.

The dog days of summer are here!

Tips on training during the heat:
1. Keep training sessions short and sweet, early mornings or late afternoons, even at night
2. Offer plenty of water at all times
3. Do Not!!! Put a soaking wet dog in a crate in the bed of the truck. Might as well be a sauna!
4. Good time to work on obedience in the house,shop, or garage.
5. Be careful in and around water, swimming for long periods can induce heat exhaustion, watch for entanglements like fishing lines and trash, also keep and eye out for snakes and gators
6. Learn what blue-green algae is and to stay away for it.
7. 💥 Fireworks! Just be mindful and dont leave a dog that is not gun fire conditioned alone, you would not want to scare your puppy and cause issues down the road. Take them inside and turn up some music or tv.

The “F” Litter is just over 4 months old. Their owners seem to be very pleased as they see them mature into the natural born utility dogs they were bred to be.

The “F” litter pups have now joined their owners and families. One going all the way to NJ, one to south GA and the other 4 staying in central TN. Hopefully these families enjoy them as much as I have raising them the last 8 weeks and will allow me to follow along as they grow.
