The Jackson Zoo will offer FREE admission today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, due to a power outage affecting portions of the facility.

At this time, the Splash Pad and Carousel will remain closed for the day until power is restored. We appreciate our guests’ patience and understanding as crews work to resolve the outage.

Despite these temporary closures, many of the Zoo’s animal exhibits remain open for guests to enjoy.

As we navigate during high temperatures, the health and well-being of our animals remains our highest priority. Animal residents have access to their climate controlled indoor barns and holding areas throughout the day.

As a result, some animals may choose to remain indoors, relax in shaded areas of their habitats, or cool off in exhibit pools.

These choices are part of the Zoo’s daily animal care practices and help ensure the comfort and welfare of the animals during periods of extreme heat as mandated by the USDA.

We encourage all guests to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, apply sunscreen, and take frequent breaks while visiting the Zoo.

Bring the kids out for a fun-filled morning of fishing, learning, and outdoor adventure. Whether they’re first-time anglers or experienced fishermen, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy nature, win prizes, and create lasting family memories.

This event is for children ages 15 years old and Under. An adult must be with the child during the entire event.

We honor and celebrate this important day of freedom, history, and reflection.
