For those wondering why beef prices (and our prices have increased), this photo is from South Dakota. It shows that a 345 pound calf went for $5 per pound or $1725. Guys. To get an animal this size to butcher weight, I have to put over 775 pounds on him, transport him, provide care and butcher him.
Now, Texas prices aren't South Dakota prices so I'm not using this to announce an increase, but as an example of why beef us getting more and more expensive.
Calves are this high because of years long drought, low cattle numbers, import/export issues and lots of other economic factors.
