These two shorthairs went on a little run around the section last night. It gave me a chance to visit with neighbors and give them my phone number. They came back within a short time. But I like them more when they are tired and laying around than when they are gone. I'm sending their water proof spot-on collars in today to see why they won’t charge anymore. I bet it’s because of all the dips in the pond lately.

The first watermelon at a roadside stand this year came from The Corner Market on 522. I did the thunk test on about 10 of them. I like to hear a solid thunk with my knuckles to tell if it’s ripe or not. I brought it home and was trying to make it inside the door with other things, and it dropped. A cow wouldn’t have thunked one more time, only louder! I dropped everything in my hands and saved it within 5 seconds. I brought it into the house, dripping like a blood trail to the sink. We ended up salvaging the best-tasting melon so far this year, and it was a good one. Thank you Tom & Jessica Young!

My picture of the day goes to the girl in the middle showing a lamb at the Scott Acker Classic. I've been catching raccoons lately that are longer and probably heavier than she is. Nice to see kids showing animals and hearing a judge give them pointers.
