✨ Big News & Congratulations! 👶🐾

We are thrilled to share that our wonderful Dr. Aguirre has welcomed her sweet little one into the world! 💕

She is now officially on maternity leave, enjoying all the baby snuggles and precious family moments. While we’ll miss her smiling face and expert care here at the hospital, we couldn’t be happier for her growing family—and we’ll (mostly 😉) patiently await her return.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Aguirre and sending her all the love during this special time! 🌸💌

🛑 Keep Your Pets Cool & Safe During This Upcoming Heatwave! ☀️🐾

The temps are rising fast—here’s how to protect your furry friends:

🌡 Never leave pets in parked cars – even for a minute!
💧 Fresh, cool water available at all times
🏖 Limit outdoor play to early morning or evening
🐾 Protect those paws – asphalt can burn in seconds
😴 Provide shade & rest during outdoor fun
🧊 Cooling mats or damp towels can help keep them comfortable

Your pet depends on you to beat the heat. Let’s keep tails wagging and kitties purring safely all summer long. 💛

Once more, with feeling! The 5-day closure of SR 18 at the I-90 interchange has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 29, to Wednesday, June 4! (Unless it rains. Again.)

Here's what to expect:

WHAT
Both directions of SR 18 will fully close beneath the I-90 bridges near Snoqualmie.

WHEN
9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 4

WHY?!?
This closure condenses months of nighttime and weekend work into five jam-packed days. During the closure, our crew will install new drainage and electrical crossings, pave the highway and build concrete islands that will form a portion of the new diverging diamond interchange.

Eastbound and westbound I-90 traffic will not be affected during this closure, but if you’re traveling through the area: you won’t be able to turn left from the off-ramps onto SR 18.

You can read more about this closure - and take a look at our suggested alternate routes - on our blog: https://wsdotblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/diverging-from-norm-to-deliver-diamond.html

Please keep an eye out and contact the Cougar Mountain Zoo if you spot this bird.

UPDATE 9am 5/24/25: Alice the crane has been recovered and returned home safely!

URGENT NOTICE 🚨 One of our juvenile East African crowned cranes made their way outside of zoo grounds! We are actively searching the nearby area. She was last seen near NW Newport Way in Issaquah. If you see her, don’t approach, please email us at [email protected]
