With deep sadness we post the sudden passing of our gelding, JKM Chief-of-State (Chief). It's hard to wrap your head around the passing of any horse, but when it is so sudden - very hard to accept. He was fine the night before; no signs of anything being wrong. Next morning, he had passed. Chief was a great representative for the Morgan breed. He was intelligent, kind, willing to do what was asked of him, with just a touch of mischief. He hadn't a mean bone in his body. As a trail horse, he took care of his rider and would travel one even if uncertain knowing his rider wouldn't put him in harms way. He took the opportunity to nibble on a hood string or put a sleeve of a jacket in his mouth, never biting to hurt, but just couldn't help himself. You just had to laugh. He was Houdini want-a-be, not that he tried to escape every time, but if the occasion presented itself, he would. We swear he did it just to laugh at how ridiculous we looked chasing after him. Never tried to run away, just around the house, and when he tired, he would just wait for us to catch up and lead him back to his pasture. He would always supervise any project going on in his pasture to make sure the job was done correctly. His passing leaves a HUGE hole in our hearts and on the farm. He joins his mother, aunt and cousin running in green pastures in heaven. Remembering him, always & forever. Rest easy dear friend!!
