🚨 WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT COULD BECOME LIFE-THREATENING

This is urine from a cat with a large amount of urinary crystals who became obstructed. 🐱

When crystals and debris form a plug, a cat may become unable to urinate. A complete urinary obstruction can cause rapid, life-threatening changes and requires immediate veterinary attention.

🚩 Straining + little/no urine = EMERGENCY.

If your cat is repeatedly visiting the litter box, straining, crying, or producing little to no urine, don’t wait to see if it gets better.

Ever wonder how we diagnose a torn ACL (CCL) in dogs?

🐾 Video 1: This knee has a positive cranial drawer, meaning the tibia slides abnormally forward because the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is torn. This instability is painful and leads to arthritis if left untreated.

🐾 Video 2: After an extra-capsular repair, that abnormal movement is gone. The knee is stable again, restoring comfort and function.

A positive cranial drawer is one of the hallmark signs of a CCL tear, and restoring stability is the goal of surgery—helping pets get back to walking, running, and enjoying life again. Reminder that both Dr. Capps and Dr. Case perform this procedure here at VRPC💙

When clients ask us, “Do you perform complex surgeries?” the answer is absolutely, yes.

One of the most critical emergencies we treat is Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), or bloat—a life-threatening condition where the stomach fills with gas and twists on itself. Without emergency surgery, it can quickly become fatal.

Our team is equipped, trained, and prepared to act fast when every minute matters. From rapid diagnosis and stabilization to surgery and intensive postoperative care, we’re ready to provide the advanced care these patients need.

While we hope your pet never experiences an emergency like this, it’s reassuring to know that if they do, they’re in capable hands. ❤️🐾

✨ Sometimes the smallest changes tell the biggest stories.

This sweet pup came in for what seemed like a routine recheck, but a subtle change prompted us to take a closer look.

An abdominal ultrasound revealed a mass on the spleen. After discussing the findings with the family, we proceeded with surgery to remove the spleen (a splenectomy).

Thanks to early detection and a dedicated team, surgery went smoothly, and this patient is now recovering well. ❤️

This case is an important reminder that pets often hide signs of illness. Even mild changes in energy, appetite, or behavior can be worth investigating.
