How do you think Barrett is handling his ringworm isolation? Hint: not very well 🤣
He is not impressed with our efforts at all and would like everyone to know he’s being unfairly denied his daily snuggles.
Barrett is currently receiving medicated baths as well as a topical ointment, so hopefully his small spot of ringworm will clear up soon. Our fingers are crossed for you, buddy!

We’re reaching out to our community- our village- because we need your help. One of our long-stay animals has been waiting far too long for their chance, and today, we’d like to give him the spotlight. Meet Kyle 💙

Kyle has been with us since May 2, 2024, and he deserves so much more than the four walls of a kennel. He’s:
🐾 Potty trained
🎾 Obsessed with fetch, toys, treats, and chews
🛏 Gentle with his blankets (no shredding here!)
🚶‍♂️ A great walking buddy

Kyle thrives on structure, love, and playtime. He needs to be the only pet in the home and would do best with older kids or teenagers-no little ones, please.
We need YOUR help to get his story out there. Whether it's:
🔁 Sharing his story
🐕 Volunteering to take him out for a walk
📸 Helping with photos and videos
🏡 Or being his foster or forever home...

Welcome Sweetness 💖 Her name says it all: this 3 yr old beagle mix is a total lover girl! She wants nothing more than to be by your side all day every day, and will follow you around like a shadow if you let her. Forget walking- this pup loves to be held... thankfully she's the perfect size to do so! We know this wonderful girl would make a great addition to any family that can give her the attention she craves 🐾

About Our Shelter

Founded in 1967 by four Irving residents who saw a need to care for stray and abandoned pets, DFW Humane Society has remained committed to rescuing neglected and unwanted pets and giving them a second chance in life through adoption.

Each year with contributions from compassionate and concerned donors, DFW Humane Society rescues and finds homes for almost 1000 pets. While at our shelter, our pets receive top-quality daily care and food, medical attention, when necessary, at local veterinary clinics, and love, interaction, and enrichment from both shelter staff and a host of dedicated volunteers.

With help from donors, we are also fortunate to have the Guardian Angel Fund, a restricted fund used to pay for extraordinary medical expenses such as heartworm treatments, broken limbs, and other higher-cost medical procedures.
