SOS EMERGENCY INTAKE!

As rescuers we often bear the heavy burden of being the deciding factor in whether or not an animal dies or has a chance at life. Today, we were faced with this decision, yet again. Say ‘no’ and he dies, or say ‘yes’ and give him a fighting chance. Tonight, we said ‘yes’ and it’s after 9pm and I’m headed to the emergency vet with another 3-week-old piglet that made a decision to leap from a semi truck. He is in rough shape, he’s lethargic, can barely stand, and refuses to eat. If you believe that this piglet deserves a chance at life, PLEASE make a donation towards his emergency medical care. I could come online everyday and cry, beg and plead for funds but I won’t because I know the work we do speaks for itself and those that believe in our mission and have the ability to assist, will jump in anytime they can to help keep these bills covered. If you can’t donate then please like, share, and comment. There’s just a very small team of us that work literally day and night on behalf of the farm animals in our community and without our help, this baby, along with all the other truck jumpers we’ve taken in, would have had absolutely no chance. Please help Tater.

With the sweltering temperatures we are in need of some extra plastic baby pools and more sun sails. These items can be dropped off at the farm anytime if you’re local! The sun sails can be found on our Amazon wishlist. We’re making sure everyone stays cool and comfortable during this heat wave.

Leela
2yr old
38 pounds
Available for adoption through Hamilton Humane Society

She was found on Valentine's Day by a good Samaritan who was visiting the cemetery. She was emaciated, very cold, anemic, and had a body score of one. This means the next phase would be death without immediate intervention. She was 18 pounds. She spent four days at Indianapolis animal care control waiting out her stray hold and then was transferred to Hamilton Humane Society for care. She was very anemic and sick, she was so weak that her back legs could not support her body. She has spent almost 3 months in foster care getting stronger.

She has made a full recovery and can run up to 2 miles, she loves to play with toys and other dogs. She does not bother the cats in the foster home. She is potty trained, crate trained, and learning several tricks. She is a true Velcro dog and loves to snuggle. She does have a lot of puppy energy and would do well in a home where she can continue to get training because she is very eager to please. She would also do best in a home with kids who are old enough to help with her training and do not get knocked over easily.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who is standing with us, voicing their concerns to the town officials and rallying behind the animals. Oinking Acres has an army of devoted, caring, and supportive people behind us that never fail to answer a call to action for the animals.

Thank you to every single person who attended last nights town meeting. To those that spoke so beautifully and passionately about the work that takes place at Oinking Acres, I don’t even have words to express my appreciation and gratitude. I am truly humbled by the support shown.

After the developer, David Weekley Homes shared their presentation and those opposed to the development had their chance to speak, the town council pushed the rezoning and annexation vote of the 5.6 acres that boarders my property until next months meeting.

Our fight is far from over and it’s imperative that we continue to show up on behalf of the sanctuaried animals that reside at my home.

Mark your calendars! The next advisory planning committee meeting is May 28th at 6pm.
