Starting May 10th - May 20th I will be taking a much needed vacation and there will be no services during this time frame. Pet care services will resume on May 21st. Training services will resume on May 26th to account for Memorial Day Weekend and increased pet care needs.

My trip is international so my ability to respond to messages will be limited.

If you have Memorial Day Weekend pet care needs, please get them to me ASAP. For new clients, a meet and greet is required before services can start.

Meet Remy and Moose!

Remy (left) is a previous graduate of our basic obedience training program and when his parents decided to get him a little brother, they reached out to us to start his training!

Moose was found as a stray and spent a few weeks living in the basement of a homeless shelter. Once his rescuer realized that the situation wasn’t in Moose’s best interest he was turned over to a local rescue and adopted very soon after! In addition to basic obedience, we are going to work Moose through some reactivity issues and building confidence with living in suburbia!

Remy is going to get a refresher course in obedience so we can make sure he is setting the best example for his little brother.

Welcome Moose and welcome back Remy!

Meet Rosie!

Rosie is a 13 week old Newfoundland who is new to our training program! Along with basic obedience, she is learning how to live with 4 year old twins and a dog sister. Her humans have never owned a giant dog breed before so we will be focusing a lot on counter surfing and other large dog specific behaviors.

Welcome Rosie!

The Art of Doing Nothing.

Believe it or not, this is a skill. Dogs do not come preprogrammed with the ability to settle, especially in public. It is something that has to be practiced. I have so many clients that want to be able to sit outside at a coffee shop or restaurant with their dog. But they don’t actually practice the thing they want to accomplish.

In this video I’m enjoying the weather and eating my lunch with my three dogs. There is traffic and construction and people walking by. My youngest dog is not even 18 months but I have been doing this with her since I got her a year ago.

Here are my tips to achieve settling:
1. Make sure your dog actually knows what sit, down, and stay are. If you are asking them to do something they don’t actually understand then you are setting them up for failure.
2. Reinforce constantly. Treats are your best friend. As they get better at the skill you can fade out the number of treats.
3. Start small. Start in less populated areas with less distractions. Start with a goal of a few minutes and work your way up. If they break, reinforce. Let it be your choice to get up not their actions.
4. Drain and engage with your dog prior to settling. Don’t expect your dog who has had zero engagement and exercise for the day to settle immediately. Walk for a few minutes or more. Get the ya ya’s out.
5. Practice often. You can’t do this once every 6 months and expect your dog to be able to do it. On most walks I do with my dogs I make it a point to sit some place for at least 10 minutes and ask them to just chill. I don’t care if they look around or sniff. But I do expect them to lay down and be relaxed.

Meet Jackpot and Milo!

Jackpot (Greyhound) is a 7 year old former racing dog who has been living a life of luxury since he retired from racing about 5 years ago. He is one of the newest members of our midday walk program as his parents shift from full time work to semi-retirement to full retirement.

Milo (Golden Retreiver) is 5 years old and is one of the newest members of our midday walk program. He welcome a new human sister back in November and his parents wanted to ensure Milo maintains the same one on one attention he has been used to, so that is where we come in!

Welcome to the family Jackpot and Milo!

Spring 2026 Update!

Now that we have sensed the first bits of warm weather which means I am getting busier, I wanted to push out some updates.

1. There will be no training sessions scheduled from March 14th - March 26th. There will also be no pet care services from March 16th - March 23rd. I will be out of the state completely from the 16th to the 23rd. I will respond to messages during that time but it will be limited.

2. I will be putting out the 2026 Socialization Walk Schedule in the next few weeks. These walks are for current/past clients only. You must have had a session in the last 18 months or my approval to join.

3. Starting March 29th, there will be no training sessions on Sundays and Mondays going forward.

4. Our midday, weekday walk schedule is completely full! These are for individuals who just need walks multiple times a week Monday - Friday. We currently have a rotation of 7 clients and we are busy!

5. For the first time EVER, which is super exciting, I am closing intake for new training clients until the week of March 30th, though that could change. We currently have 27 dogs actively enrolled in our training programs and I need to get some of them graduated or at least to maintenance phase before adding anymore. If you are already on the books for a new client consultation, you are safe! However, I will be scheduling new clients to start in April.

Happy National Walk Your Dog Day!

While the weather in Central Indiana today is not exactly walk friendly, routine walks are so important to creating a well balanced dog. Excess energy can amplify bad behaviors. Walking isn’t absolute solution to all behavioral problems, but it does help reduce boredom behaviors like destruction and excess barking and allows for training to be more effective.

Dogs who walk well get walked more. That’s why one of the first things we focus on in our training programs is ensuring your dog does walk well because it’s so helping in the training process as a whole.

If you are struggling with pulling and leash reactivity, we can help!

Meet Cooper!

Cooper is a 9 month old Golden Doodle and is one of the more recent members to our Basic Obedience Program.
Cooper’s owner has been struggling with his super high energy after only ever having low energy dogs. We have been working hard to teach Cooper how to settle, walk well on a leash, and to use his energy for good instead of evil.
