Update on Miles:

He's doing well with his new owners and finally got to meet his human pop, who got home from deployment. He is living the dream as an only dog: no sharing his humans with a pack of pups, all the attention he can take in, and a happy life.

Thank you for choosing adoption!

Pup Profile: Moses!

Moses was a thin, scared and reactive little guy pulled from a local animal shelter in February 2026. There was strict criteria from the shelter due to his grumpy nature and the fact that he was so reactive. He was director approval only and they recommended he be the only pet in the home because of his tendency to try to bite. Maybe it was just a reflex, but he obviously hadn't been treated with kindness in the past.

Fast forward 4 months and he's turned corners on 2 wheels, interacting well with the other dogs, letting his defenses down enough to have pets and to be picked up, and he's even come to enjoy belly scratches, mixing in some happy growls every once in a while.

Being found as a stray may have been the best thing for him. Moses still needs time to become his absolute best self, but he's all about winning and we are here for it!

Good read!

Anxiety in dogs may have clearer biological roots than previously understood.

In a new genetics study, researchers identified a specific gene associated with anxiety-related behaviors in dogs. By pairing genomic data with observed behavior, scientists were able to connect certain genetic markers with increased fear and stress responses.

The findings don’t point to immediate treatments, but researchers say they could help inform future approaches to understanding anxiety in dogs — including more targeted training, care strategies or therapies over time.

Will Moses forever be loyal? Let's see what he has to say.

Moses stands guard, watching my six whenever I'm working on something. Tonight it was pulling weeds. Whatever it is, he never lets me down.
