Mushroom Safety Alert for Pet Owners in the Lake Tahoe Area đŸ„đŸŸ

We’ve recently seen reports of toxic mushrooms appearing throughout the Lake Tahoe region. While not all mushrooms are dangerous, many poisonous species can look similar to harmless varieties, making identification difficult.
to do so

🚑 If you suspect your pet has eaten a mushroom, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital immediately. If possible, take a photo or safely collect a sample of the mushroom to assist with identification.

Some symptoms can appear within minutes, while others may take several hours to develop.

✅ Prevention Tips:
‱ Keep dogs on leash in areas where mushrooms may be present
‱ Regularly inspect yards, parks, and walking paths
‱ Prevent pets from eating anything found on the ground
‱ Remove mushrooms from your property when safe

At Pet Network, we believe that investing in people is one of the most powerful ways we can advance animal welfare. That’s why we are so proud to celebrate Dylan Garcia’s participation in the 2026 Animal Care Expo and to share Bradley Steelmon’s next big step towards an Animal Shelter Management Certificate!

Dylan, a Shelter Veterinary Assistant at Pet Network, was able to attend this inspiring conference through the generosity of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation
Their commitment to supporting shelter professionals also helped Animal Care & Client Services Manager Bradley Steelmon pursue an Animal Shelter Management Certification through the University of the Pacific.
Opportunities like these strengthen not only individual growth, but the future of compassionate, innovative animal care. Dylan and Bradley embody the dedication, leadership, and heart that drive Pet Network’s mission every day.

We are incredibly grateful for partners who believe in empowering shelter professionals and deeply proud of Dylan and Bradley for continuing to grow, lead, and advocate for animals and the people who care for them.

Let’s keep doing radical good, together!
