A friend of mine took in a abandoned female malinois.
She was unaware of her pregnancy.
Beautiful pups.all females.
I might be going to do an assessment on each pup.
To help fight out there suitability for different household types.
Drive levels etc.
The higher the drive in a malinois or dutchie.
Makes the dog have more needs to be met.
More training. More mental and physical needs.

Here we're Introducing a special stuffed toy for soothing.teaching the dog to bite but not destroy the "special" toy.
These dogs sometimes suckle a toy, blanket,or pillow.its self soothing.
This type of toy is used under supervision.
You teach them its special by how and when you bring it out.
We use the word gentle to encourage them not to destroy.

Update on Belgian Malinois Odie.
And me.
So Odie's parents will not be moving here untill next year.
So were talking about bringing Odie from Colorado to San Diego for a 4 week board and train.
After i get surgery on a torn rotator cuff.
Unfortunately that whole medical machine moves slowly.
I hate to have these people wait for my help.
In the meantime, im doing some training with Odies handler.there making some progress.
the confident leadership and handling skills are a big part of being successful.
Heres a short video of Odie out near a near empty dog park.
He looks quite anxious and aroused.
A little stiff and un sure of himself.
For me it looks promising.

Im a bit messed up.
About 6 weeks ago i had to pull a 70lb dog off of another dog.
My adrenaline was pumping .i bent over, grabbed the dog and pulled the offending dog up .real fast.
I immediately felt bad pain in my left bicep.
I think i detached a tendon of 2 from the bicep.
When i bent my arm my muscle looked a bit deformed and like Popeye the sailor man looking muscle.
20 minutes later i felt excruciating pain in my left shoulder.
I went to urgent care.
They confirmed detached tendon prognosis.
I got a MRI a week ago.
I finally get to see a orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.
Ive had issues with the left shoulder for years.
But nothing like what im experiencing now.
Incredibly painful.especially at night laying down..
Its made me limit my work schedule.
Lack of good sleep can really throw your game off.
Hopefully tomorrow ill know if and when i need surgery.
Thanks to everyone for your patience while i deal with this bump in the road of life.

Update.tear in the rotator cuff.
I need surgery.

Stop Bribing. Start Marking.

If your dog only listens when there’s food in your hand, you’re not training.
You’re begging.

That’s a bribe.
And dogs aren’t stupid—they’ll hold out until they see the payoff.

Real training doesn’t start with a treat in your hand.
It starts with clarity.

Use a marker—like “Yes” or a clicker—to tell the dog exactly when they nailed it.
Then bring the reward in. Not before. Not during. After.

This does three things:
• Teaches the dog to work the problem, not the system
• Builds focus that holds under pressure
• Gets you real-world results—not just kitchen tricks

So quit flashing the bait like a vending machine.
Mark the moment. Reward with purpose. Build the kind of dog that listens because they know what they’re doing matters.

You’re not here to negotiate.
You’re here to lead.

Odie's story.
We were contacted by a nice family in Colorado.
They are moving to San Diego and looking for help with Odie.
He is 18 months old and very handsome.
He has been to 3 trainers.diagnosed as fearful and lack of confidence.
This heart braking story is about Odie being so reactive.that he needs to be walked at night.
They cant have guests over.
The worst thing is a family member with nephews and nieces refuses to visit. understandably.
I have not evaluated Odie yet.
But hopefully i will be able to help Odie and his family when they move to san diego 🙏.
Hopefully you all can watch the process.
