🐾 Dogs Don’t “Just Attack” 🐾

One of the biggest myths we hear is: “It came out of nowhere!”
But here’s the truth — dogs never just snap. There are always signs. There’s always a buildup. And there’s always a trigger.

The challenge? Most people don’t know what those signs look like until it’s too late. That’s not your fault — canine body language is subtle, and it takes practice to recognize.

That’s where a Behavior Specialist comes in. Trainers can teach sit, stay, and leash manners. But Behavior Specialists go deeper — we look at WHY the behavior is happening, what the environment is teaching the dog, and how to create real, lasting change.

If you’re struggling with a dog whose behavior feels overwhelming or “out of nowhere,” you don’t have to face it alone. This is exactly the type of situation Mistie, our Behavior Specialist is here to help with. 🐶💡

🌸 Hi, I’m Harley! 🌸

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe I get to tell you about ME! 🐾 I’m Harley, an 8-month-old Cane Corso puppy, and I just know my forever family is out there. I can feel it! Every time I meet someone new, my tail starts wagging and my heart just bursts with excitement, because I love everyone — kids, grown-ups, dogs big and small, and even cats. Honestly, I just want to be friends with the whole world. 💕

Now, here’s the thing… I’ve got something that makes me a little different. My spine is 95% fused together — from my neck all the way to my hips, it’s almost like one big bone. Nobody knows exactly why, but the vets say it’s been happening since the day I was born. Some people might think that sounds sad, but not me! Nope. I still love to play, I still love to zoom (at my own pace), and I still think life is just the most wonderful thing. My bloodwork looks fantastic, my tummy and body are working great, and I’m ready to live my best life.

What does that mean for my future? Well, it just means I need a family who understands me. I’ll need a slower-paced, relaxed kind of home — maybe one that’s single-level so I don’t have to do lots of stairs or fear I’ll fall down while doing my 3-point turn to turn my body around. I just don’t bend in my back -it’s as stiff as a board.

If I get a doggy brother or sister, that would be amazing, but they’ll need to be the kind who’s gentle and kind, not a bulldozer who will knock me around. I may have some limits, but I’m still just a puppy who loves toys, cuddles, and attention.

And here’s the best part: I am SO sure that the right family is going to fall in love with me. I just know it! I mean, how could they not? I’m sweet, I’m snuggly, I’m full of love, and I’m ready to share my whole heart with someone special. My story might have started in a hard place — the result of careless backyard breeding — but I refuse to let that define me. I believe the next chapter is going to be beautiful, because my forever home is out there waiting, and I just can’t wait to meet them!

So, if you’re reading this and your heart feels a little tug, maybe it’s because we’re meant for each other. I’m Harley — strong, hopeful, a little different, maybe awkward, but full of joy — and I’m ready to be your girl. 💕🐾

We have a couple special cases here at Tailored Canine. Bailey, Sinju & Harley. Right now we are seeking help in getting Sinju on the right track and finding her forever home by Christmas 🎄 She is our longest standing resident. We love her and shes ready for the next step in her rehabilitation program.

💜 Help Sinju Take Her Next Step Toward Healing 💜

Meet Sinju, a dog whose journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. When she first began experiencing seizures, she was initially thought to have epilepsy. The uncertainty of her diagnosis was difficult, but what became clear over time was that her episodes were not random—they were connected to stress.

Through close observation and months of careful support, we made a groundbreaking discovery: Sinju’s seizures were not rooted in a traditional epileptic disorder, but in stress-induced neurological responses. When her body produced adrenaline during heightened experiences, it triggered the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. Those neurochemicals sent the wrong signals to her brain, essentially “telling” it to seize.

In other words, her brain had formed a maladaptive pathway—linking stress and adrenaline to seizures. But here’s the incredible part: by reducing her exposure to those triggers and creating calm, structured experiences, we helped her brain begin to rewire itself. The results speak for themselves—SINJU HAS NOW BEEN MEDICATION AND SEIZURE FREE FOR 4 MONTHS.

Now, Sinju is ready for the most critical step in her rehabilitation: boarding and training with Tailored Canine. This next chapter will focus on obedience training and public work, but it must be approached with the utmost care. Every aspect of her training will be designed not only to build her confidence and skills, but also to ensure that we do not reactivate the old neurological pathways that once led her brain into a seizure response.

This is why specialized training is so important for Sinju. The program will give her the structure and stability she needs to fully break free from her past, while carefully guiding her brain to maintain healthy neurological patterns.

But we can’t do this without your help. Boarding and training programs require resources, and Sinju deserves this opportunity to finally step into the healthy, balanced life she’s been fighting for.

🐾 Your donation today can directly change the course of Sinju’s life.
Every contribution—big or small—goes toward giving her the safe, supportive training she needs to leave seizures in her past forever.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Sinju and believing in her journey. 💜

We finally have some answers for Harley… but they are not the answers we were hoping for. 💔 This sweet 8-month-old Cane Corso has a spine that is 95% fused together — from her neck to her hips & it’s projected to keep fusing into one solid bone.

We don’t know the exact cause, but what is clear is that Harley is yet another victim of backyard breeding — where neglect and money-hunger come first, and the dogs are the ones left to pay the price. For her spine to be this severely fused, it’s something she’s been living with her entire young life.

Possible causes:
Distemper Survivor
Dwarfism
Stepped on by mom
Mom & dad are Brother/ sister

No amount of chiropractic, therapy or surgery will fix this.

Right now, this diagnosis brings more questions than answers. What does this mean for her future? How will her body continue to handle growth? How can we make her the most comfortable and give her the best quality of life? It feels overwhelming at times, but this is not a dead end. Harley is still here, still full of love, and still deserving of every chance at happiness.

Harley will eventually need a forever home that matches her needs: relaxed, down-to-earth, not overly active, ideally single-level home, and with someone who has the compassion and understanding to walk beside a Special Needs pup as she continues to grow.

For now, we are taking it one step at a time, surrounding her with love, and holding onto hope. Please keep Harley in your prayers as we navigate what’s best for her. She may be different, but her heart is just as big, and her spirit is just as worthy. 💕🐾

*you will probably NEVER see a spine this fused again in your life & i hope you don’t.

Hallie - Mae is teaching Harley how to roll back into her sit so she isn’t squatting anymore. Harley is getting so much better at it.

Right now, all we know is nothing … but we’re holding onto hope. 💕 Meet Harley, my newest foster who traveled from Utah to be here. She’s just 8 months old, a Cane Corso puppy with the sweetest spirit, and we’ll hopefully learn more about her health on Monday.

In the meantime, Harley is soaking up love, cuddles, and comfort. She may be facing some challenges, but she’s already showing us how strong and resilient she is. This girl has so much life ahead of her, and I truly believe she’s meant for something beautiful.

Please keep Harley in your prayers and send her all the good thoughts and healing energy you can. We’re staying hopeful that answers bring clarity — and that her story is only just beginning. 🙏🐾💖
