These 2 dogs were chasing a deer around Mt. View & Veterans Cemetery. One of the dogs has a collar on that has the name Spot in big letters.

We attempted to catch them but they went down over the hill into the little valley. So if anyone is missing 2 black & white dogs are somewhere around the spur.

Does anyone know who this boy belongs to? He was found up at the very end of Yeaddiss Road before you go into Perry Co. He’s a sweetheart, his nails have been trimmed & he’s had a flea & tick treatment & smells like cedar chips. If anyone knows who he might belong to please contact the shelter.

MALE CAT NEUTER OPPORTUNITY:

Tuffy’s Spay & Neuter Clinic will have several dates to neuter male cats for $50. They are located in Crab Orchard- that’s in Lincoln County. It’s roughly about 1.5 hours from Hyden.

The Animal Shelter will be closed July 3rd-July 5th. We will be open again on Monday July 6th. Have a safe holiday weekend & keep your pets inside if they are afraid of fireworks. Lots of pets go missing because of the fireworks.

Next week the weather is forecasting extremely hot temps & high heat indexes. The heat effects our pets as well as us. Please be aware of the heat & never ever leave pets or children inside a car/truck. If you do have outside animals please do the following:

Put up a tarp, canopy, open the garage door; something so the animal has shade. Make sure they have a lot of water; more than what you would normally give them & try to have it placed in the shade so it doesn't get hot.

One idea would be to dig a hole & set the bucket of water down in the hole. That will keep it cooler as well. Dogs & cats both overheat faster than what you think. Dogs with double coats like husky's, shepherd, etc will over heat faster because of their coats so extra shade & water for them.

These two dogs were found up Yeaddiss above the post office on the main road. Does anyone know who they belong to?

Leslie County Animal Shelter will be closing today at 11am. We will also be closed Monday May 25th for Memorial Day. We will be open Tuesday at regular time.
