Hey everyone, it's Holly here. So, I'm going to do something I don't typically do and talk about my personal life a little bit here. I generally try to keep my personal life private to a degree and separate from my business, but I realize now that may not be the way to go all the time. It has been brought to my attention (by one client) that my children being at the shop is a "nuisance" (my interpretation of her words, not her words). And I want to just explain a little bit here. I have 5 children with my husband. Ages 11, 8, 8, 8, and 4. I am an INCREDIBLY busy woman. Two of them are in public school and three of them are homeschooled. Two are on travel ball teams (softball and baseball), we participate in 4h, we have a farm at home, we put them in other sports throughout the year. We are BUSY. I am trying to be in all these places at once and raise my children the way I see fit to raise them. This means that yes, they have to join me at work. Work for them is like a second home, so while I may ask them to keep their volume down and stop running around like it's a playground, they are ultimately comfortable there. They love it there, they love your dogs and cats, they love YOU, they are children, they are wild, they are a little bit feral. I really try to keep them under wraps, but it doesn't happen 100% of the time because they are little.
I'm a tad offended that my children are a problem for some people, but I realize that just may be some people's preference and I have to accept that. We are a family-oriented business, we really prioritize family over everything else. So, if that's something that some of you cannot deal with, I am sad to see you go but I will not make myself smaller to fit into other people's boxes and expectations. I want to make all of my clients happy but sometimes, we just don't align. That is okay and something I have to learn to accept. It is hard.
I wanted to hop on here and give a bit of an explanation so that maybe some of you who are confused at the craziness going on, will find it in your hearts to give some grace to a family that is just trying their best to run a business and cover all the bases at the same time.
We appreciate you all.
