Why do I train? It's a good question for us to ask.
From childhood, dogs were an integral part of my life.
As a child, I learned from my dogs that love can come with no agenda or harm.
They taught me as an adolescent to soften my approach and to communicate intentionally, taking time to adjust to feedback and catch nonverbal cues.
As an adult, my dogs showed me I can evolve. Old ways aren't always best nor are they an excuse for resisting change or wallowing in the past.
I owe much to the dogs of my life who judged little and loved much even in the hardest times. And I continue to train because of the legacy they have given me.
