We want to congratulate our new groomer, Hailey, on completing her grooming certification!! She is now available for booking, but will fill up fast with the holidays approaching. 🦃🎄
A word from Hailey:
“When I was young my great grandpa let me take scissors to a long haired mutt named Lady. Horrible decision on his part. She ended up bald on half her torso with 2 inch long fur everywhere else. Ever since seeing Lady that day, my grandma would joke about me becoming a dog groomer. Unfortunately, I was petrified of cutting dog nails and thought I could never be a groomer because of it.
Fast forward about a decade and I'm working as a bather at The Dapper Dog Spaw. After being there for almost a year, Kaylin and Carri asked if I would want to take dog grooming courses. Of course I said I absolutely, 100%, without-a-doubt wanted to take the courses. I already loved being a bather and could only imagine how much I would like grooming. In the first course I got much better at nails, learned how to trim paws and how to groom double coated dogs like Golden Retrievers and Australian Shepherds. In the second course I learned how to use clippers and shears, how to follow a groom pattern, and studied different diseases in dogs and how to recognize them.
I graduated my grooming course today! So I am officially a certified dog groomer! I couldn't imagine my life without dog grooming or The Dapper Dog Spaw. I love meeting new pet parents and pups. I love cutting satisfyingly long nails. I love working with a difficult dog and getting more done than I did last time. I love hanging out with my coworkers before and after work (Shoutout to Carri, Kaylin, Sarah, and Autumn, you're all amazing). With everything I love comes a few things I hate, like hair splinters and expressing a**l glands, watching dogs get old and I especially hate when any of our pups cross the rainbow bridge. Even considering the disgusting and heartbreaking aspects to grooming, I would never trade it for the world. I think I've finally found my purpose in dog grooming.”
