Happy birthday, Crouton! We miss you so much, but and the rest of us are doing our best to honor you and continue that sassy joy you brought to the world.

We were testing out an AI writer and asked it to write a short story about you because it’s your birthday. It made us smile and we’re sharing it in hopes it brings a smile and fond memories to others too.

Here’s the AI story:

Crouton the Corgi was not just any corgi; she was the epitome of excellence in the canine world. With her fluffy butt, big ears, and a tail that wagged like a metronome, she was a sight to behold. But what set Crouton apart was her unparalleled talent.

Every year, SoCal Corgi Nation hosted Corgi Beach Day, a festival of fun, sun, and sand dedicated to corgis and their owners. The highlight of this event was the Corgi Limbo Challenge. This year, Crouton had her sights set on the gold.

As the sun climbed high, casting playful shadows across the sand, Crouton warmed up with some stretches, her short legs surprisingly limber. The crowd gathered, corgis of all colors and sizes, but none with the focus and flair of Crouton.

The limbo stick started high, but as each round passed, it was lowered, testing the dogs' agility and courage. Crouton, with a gleam in her eye, approached each round like it was her last. She danced under the stick, her belly almost grazing the sand, her legs paddling in an almost comical fashion, yet she never faltered.

Cheers erupted with each successful pass. Even the seagulls seemed to applaud, diving and squawking overhead. Crouton's human, Crystal, couldn't help but beam with pride, her cheers the loudest among the cacophony.

The final round was upon them. The limbo stick was now so low it seemed to rest on the sand itself. The other corgis tried, but one by one, they either knocked it or simply couldn't muster the courage to go so low.

Then, it was Crouton's turn. The crowd hushed. Crystal held her breath. Crouton approached with the swag of a seasoned athlete. She flattened herself, her eyes locked on the prize. In one smooth motion, she slid under the stick, her body a mere whisper above the sand, and popped up on the other side, triumph in her bark.

Corgi Beach Day, hosted by SoCal Corgi Nation, crowned Crouton the limbo champion. She was draped in a tiny garland of seaweed, and her picture was taken for the local pet magazine. But for Crouton, the real reward was the joy of the game, the love of her community, and the endless treats that followed.

From that day, Crouton was not just a corgi; she was a legend at Corgi Beach Day, proving that with the right spirit, even the smallest of legs could achieve the greatest of feats.

Happy heavenly birthday, Crouton. It’s been an amazing and busy year. managed to follow in your footsteps and win back the corgi limbo title, we celebrated so many holidays, and had so much fun. We still think about you and sometimes we laugh, cry, or both. On what would have been your sweet sixteenth birthday, we are also so thankful to have shared our time with you. Miss you so much, my Little Bear.
