Sunday 7/27 UPDATE: And just like that Shadow went to join both his siblings. We are absolutely devastated by the outcome, but glad we gave them a fighting chance. Our vet team did all they could.

Unfortunately we ran up quite a bill doing what we could to give them the best outcome. We will post invoices as they come in the comment section. We never shy away from the hard cases because of money. We know our village will come through to help us be able to help the next hard case. Any donations so greatly and gratuitously appreciated 🤍

Thursday 7/24 UPDATE:
It’s with deep sadness, and a heavy heart that we share that we lost Rain last night. As of late yesterday our vet team felt both had a good chance of beating this horrible disease, but her little body just couldn’t fight anymore. Please continue to pray and send healing energy to Shadow. He is now alone and in the fight of his life 💔

HELP‼️This is happening right now! These 2 babies were brought into one of our vet hospitals with parvo! Owners requested euthanasia because they couldn’t afford treatment 😭 Unfortunately 1 had already passed.

Needless to say we can’t let them be euthanized without even trying! They are being moved to a different vet team because where they were brought doesn’t handle parvo treatment.

We NEED HELP! Parvo treatment is ridiculously expensive, and this was unplanned! We are calling on our rescue village and rescue angels for help for these wee ones!

RESCUE HELP and FOSTERS!
We just received a call from someone in Buena Park (seaaca territory) who is giving away 9, 12 week old, Malinois/Blue Healer puppies 🤦🏻‍♀️

We absolutely cannot take all, so we are looking for a couple committed fosters to take a pup each, and a few solid rescues willing to take on a couple of pups each.

3 lives SAVED, and reaching out to our village for help. It’s our pleasure to introduce these 3 kids…

Chase (name will be changed) - This kid was a shelter intervention, being given away for free on social media 🤦🏻‍♀️ From what we know he was born in a home with 2 other siblings (already given away) never socialized, scared to death, and appears to have lived in a cage his entire life! They said he’s 2 (we belive he’s a bit older), horribly emaciated, so matted he couldn’t even walk, and weighing only 5 1/2 pounds, no muscle tone, and unilateral cryptorchidism. Meaning his neuter will be expensive once he gains weight and is well enough to have surgery. His foster spent hours cutting knots out of his coat so he could at least walk 🤬 See pic!

Marigold - Freshly sprung this weekend from San Jacinto Animal Control! She came in as 1 of 8 puppies that have spent the last
2/mo at the shelter being raised in a cage 😭 They wanted them out! So grateful for our amazing volunteer who raised her hand to foster and save a life!

Gina - This little lady came out of Carson Animal Control on a behavior waiver, deemed “Rescue only”. She came in with another male whom was quickly adopted. They claimed this kid was aggressive, NOT! 🤦🏻‍♀️ As soon as we got Gina we realized she was matted down to her skin. We got her in and unfortunately had to shave her all the way down.

All of these saves need full medical, spay/neuter, grooming, etc.

PUPDATE- The owner who was surrendering this kid decided he wanted to try to hold onto him. We don’t believe it’s in the animals best interest, but it’s not up to us. We will be here if anything changes and keep you guys posted. So much thanks to everybody who reached out to offer to foster.

2 new kids welcomed to the SAFE pack this week!

First is Stella. She was a found pup in Bloomington. Found super lethargic and underweight by a good sam. Unfortunately, she was bounced around on social media to homes that didn’t work out and ultimately landed in the shelter system. This little girl is only 8 months old, 17 pounds, and with such a horrific start to life, we decided to intervene and show her how fabulous life can be!

And then there is Happy! This 6/month old Maltese baby was purchased from a BYB by an elderly lady, that realized a puppy may mot have been the best idea. Happy is a great boy, but had become very protective of his mama in the home. We have him in a very experienced foster home where we are allowing him to relearn how to be a carefree happy puppy.

We were alerted late afternoon yesterday about a 2 year old boy at OC Animal Care who was suddenly scheduled for euthanasia. He had been at the shelter for six days, they sent him back to neuter him and noticed he had blood in his stool. The shelter vet deemed his prognosis as “Poor” and he was promptly scheduled for same day euthanasia within a few hours!

Needless to say, we scrambled! We didn’t want to see this kid murdered because he had blood in his stool! So with the help of our amazing Rescue Village, he was sprung and delivered promptly to our amazing Vet team! He’s currently staying on with them so we can monitor his health, and make sure he is strong and healthy upon exit!

His name was Pistachio in the shelter. We definitely want to give him a new identity, so we shall call him chewy. Welcome to the SAFE pack! Your future is very bright!

This little girl was in danger of euthanasia at one of deadliest shelters in California. She was shy and scared, and would retreat to the back of her kennel when anyone came to visit her. Hence she was overlooked and passed up, and would not have made it out alive if we had not have intervened.

So please help us welcome Clair to the SAFE pack! This wee one is about a year old, super sweet, super adorable and already starting to come out of her shell. If you can imagine, the shelter didn’t even bother to spay her 🤦🏻‍♀️

This sweet loving, kind, gentle soul is Opal 🤍 She was presumed hit by a car (we believe drug under a car due to her wounds are consistent with that scenario.) She was found completely horizontal in somebody’s front yard, unresponsive, and picked up by LA animal control. They did x-rays and found tons of rocks in her belly on top of all her wounds, and then she is red-coded for euthanasia.

An amazing networker (that we know and LOVE) was advocating for Opal, and desperate to make sure she made it out alive. We took one look at her and knew we wanted and needed to help!

Opal is believed to be about year or so, covered in wounds, malnourished, overbred, just a hot mess! We had the absolute privilege of taking her on her freedom walk yesterday 🙌🏻 straight out of North Central AC! Welcome to the SAFE pack sweet baby girl! Your new amazing life has officially begun 🤍

Happy Sunday! Please help us welcome this little mama and her 3 little ones to the SAFE Rescue Team pack! Only 4 weeks old and still nursing!

Owner was unable to care for them any longer. They definitely would have been facing street life or an even worse fate.

They will be in foster care over the next few weeks until mama is done with nursing. From there we will get mama fixed, start vax for the babies, and reconfigure foster homes. At that point we will start accepting foster with intent to adopt applications for these babes.

HELP STILL NEEDED! 1/13 Buddy update: Buddy’s owner contacted us requesting us to find a foster home for Buddy. There are a couple issues at hand here…. Van living is not ideal for a hospice dog. Secondly Buddy‘s owner took on an 8 week old puppy, which has been problematic for Buddy being in such close quarters.

We know this is a huge ask, but confident we can make magic happen for Buddy. We would cover all his medical and necessities costs until he’s ready to cross over. Asking for the HELP of our village and our amazing community!

This sweet little man is Buddy. He is 8 years old and has advance stages of cancer, and soon (within the week) will need to be humanly euthanized.

His dad is unhoused and living in HB Central Park. SAFE Rescue Team has agreed to help with the cost when Buddy is ready to cross over. As if this isn’t bad enough, dad has 2 other dogs that desperately need medical care too, and he has asked us for help for them also.

We are a small bit mighty little rescue always willing to help when we can. We are asking for the help of our village and community to raise some funds to help us help Buddy and his family.

1/1/25 PUPDATE: We have just been notified that this kid has a rescue plan in place! The shelter wanted whichever rescue to take him and another dog at the same time. Unfortunately we were not able to commit to both of them (because we put a lot of planning into each rescue) so they went ahead and chose another rescue to take them both. 

So much thanks and gratitude to everybody that jumped in to help support this small but mighty little rescue! You are so appreciated 🙏🏻🤍

Someone's 2025 is not starting off with a bang 🙁 This miniature poodle mix was picked up by Animal Control this evening after an Officer was flagged down by residents regarding a dog with bandages on his leg that were actively bleeding 😮 Lil' Wookie arrived with a partially severed/brutally amputated right hind leg which will require surgery and amputation. If there is a rescue in a position to help please contact the shelter as soon as possible.
