Unsheltered NC Unsheltered Tortoise & Turtle was founded in 2023 by a Registered Veterinary Technician. We provide rescue and education of tortoises & turtles.

Enjoy one of our female box turtles eating her breakfast. She was surrendered last month with 4 other box turtles. They had been owned by an elderly gentleman who passed away and they now call Unsheltered home.

We saved 2 lives with the help of last year and yesterday they went back out into the wild!

We had the BEST day shellebrating (even if it's 2 weeks late due to rain). Grateful for everyone who came out to meet the tortoises and to all our volunteers who made the day a success!! Extra grateful for Mom & Dad helping all day too 🥰🥰

We had the best World Turtle Day. While it rained too much to have an event at the sanctuary, glady said yes to us moving the event to their place last minute!
