It's National Farriers week this week amd we are here to celebrate the hard working individuals that do the back breaking work because let's be honest, there aren't many of us left.
Here's to the ones that are running on fumes in summer. To the ones that keep going when there is nothing left in the tank. Here's to the ones that take in the young, unruly, and not so well trained horses. To the ones that take on the draft horses with no stocks. Here's to those that are playing welder, mechanic, and probably mad scientist to get a horse to be more comfortable. Here's to the ones that are constantly learning from others and getting various certifications to make themselves a better farrier. To the newbies that are just starting out and trying to figure out their path. Here's to the ones taking on the old arthritic horses that are down on their knees just to make sure the horse is comfortable. To the ones waking up before the sun rises and coming home after it sets. Here's to the family man/woman that comes home after a hard day, but still has to be the mom, dad, wife or husband. To those that stand on the side-lines at fairs, rodeos, jackpots and anything else to watch and cheer on their client.
