New boy at the shelter. Very friendly, pretty little guy. He is small to medium sized around a year old maybe 2. He is not microchipped. Picked up last night on the 500 block of French street. If this is your dog or you know where he belongs please call Hugoton Police Department at 620-544-2020 and make an appointment to claim him.

Animal Control Officer Visits Heritage Christian Academy 🐾

ACO Stephanie Smith visited with students at Heritage Christian Academy to share what she does as an Animal Control Officer. She brought along some of her tools to demonstrate how she safely catches dogs and explained how police officers often assist her in her work.

Stephanie also talked about the role of social media in helping reunite pets with their owners and gave important tips on animal safety—reminding kids not to touch stray dogs or wildlife.

When asked about the strangest animal she has ever seen in town, she told the story of a pelican that made a surprise stop in Hugoton a few years ago! 🦩

We appreciate ACO Smith for educating our youth and keeping our community safe.

… Update… Owner has called… 🥰
New dogs at the shelter. Two dogs picked up last night on the 900 block of Polk. Very sweet! Big one has an awesome smile. There was a third that the officers couldn’t catch, also black. New dogs at the shelter. Officer picked them up on the 100 block of North Main this morning. He said they were well fed. If these are your pups or you know whose they are please call Hugoton Police Department and make an appointment to claim.

Female pup looking for a good home.

Valerie Hershey’s daughter’s dog had a litter of pups she has found good homes for all the pups but one female. Mom is Husky& Australian Shepherd. Dad is a blue heeler. The parents are pictured. They are needing to find a good home for the last little girl pup. She was born June 2nd. Information is on the poster the pups that are exed out are no longer available. Please share
