Hello there, I’m Chico!

I found my forever home at the sanctuary in 2012 after the kind folks at the humane society reached out for help. I had a tough time trusting humans back then, which made adoption difficult. But the amazing team at SDK9 was patient with me, and over time, I learned to feel safe and loved. Now, I’m living my best senior years, happy, cared for, and surrounded by friends!

Meet Forrest! Our 11 year old American Bulldog rescue that has been with us for many years 🐾

Like many of our sanctuary dogs, Forrest came to us after having issues in his previous home that prevented him from being safely managed and rehomed. Fortunately, the structured environment of SDK9 has helped him flourish and live a full life!

Over the last year SDK9 Rehabilitation has shifted our focus to our sanctuary animals.

As owner surrender numbers have soared this past year, adoptions for everyone at a stand still and no available fosters it's important for us to adapt so we do not get overworked, overwhelmed and overcrowded.

Moving forward we will be focusing on providing care to the dogs we currently have in our rescue. We still have a handful of adoptable dogs available and hopefully they will be able to find their forever homes in 2025!

As for the rest of our non adoptable dogs we have in our sanctuary we will continue to provide them with the care and enrichment we have always strived to uphold.

We will be posting starting in January to introduce some newbies as well as featuring some of our forever fosters and how they spend their days!

We appreciate all the donations that help us with food, supplies and vet care! We wouldn't be able to do it without that support!

We are feeling the holiday love! Thank you to our former adopters/supporters for the generous donation to S&D K9!

If any one has some unwanted blankets we would put them to good use. No down filled blankets though, sometimes pups chew and well, it would surely look like a winter wonderland if that happens.

Our dynamic duo. H***h and Ruby! What a pair these two have become! Besties we’d say. Both are now available for adoption with basic obedience skills under their belts and ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives with an amazing family who understands the loyalty and loving spirit you get from adopting a dog!

H***h is around 4 1/2 years old and is an Akita mix. He’s been around children, and other dogs. H***h is a handsome boy and enjoys the great outdoors, balls, and playing with his humans!

Ruby is around 6 years young, and is a pit mix. This girl loves water, swimming, splashing, and just having a good ole time with wherever she is and whatever she’s doing!

Both have been with our rescue and learning wonderful things such as socializing, crate training, leash walking and more! When you adopt from S&D K9 Rehabilitation & Rescue, you adopt a dog with manners!

Action photos of the besties! H***h and Ruby, Ruby and H***h. These 2 have truly enjoyed learning together while being at our rescue.

You'll find these "furiends" never far from each other when they have their social time. H***h, 4 1/2 year old Akita mix, and Ruby, almost 6 year old pit mix, have enjoyed getting to know one another. We are hoping to find them a home of their own for the next chapter of their lives! Will you be that home? Good with children, adults, no issues seen with food, other dogs, toys. They have learned basic obedience skills and are ready for a new life.
