This is Rips journey with SSRR in a very short clip compared to the time we have spent with him. I am so grateful to his wonderful family for choosing adoption. I see post and comments often about what rescue is, isn’t and what it should be. This is rescue to SSRR. Rips owner called and stated she has 3 horses that she could no longer afford to feed. She stated she called other rescues and they were full. We were full as well. We always ask for pictures so we can see if the horse is in dire need as if it is, we will find a way. As soon as we received pictures of the horses in mud to their knees and Rip very thin, we knew we had to help. They did not have current coggins so we paid the vet to go out to pull coggins to keep our herd safe. As soon as the coggins came back, we drove over 3 hours to pick up Rip, Sierra and Mae. Rip was in the worst condition. We had the vet out to evaluate, had vaccinations and dentals as soon as they could. Unfortunately, Rip had a bad colic episode about 6 weeks after arriving. We had the vet out right away. After approx 2 weeks of mashes, hydration, staying up with him all hours, our wonderful volunteers providing care, we as a team, you as supporters helped him pull through. We thought we were going to lose him however we and he were determined. He then started gaining weight nicely. In time, we evaluated him on the ground and under saddle. Rip is the silliest, kindest, sweetest soul. Our entire team fell in love with this boy. Another volunteer and myself were trying to figure out if we went in together if we could adopt him. Yes, as the founder, yes as a 24/7 volunteer, I would still have to pay the adoption fee. As much as we wanted to keep him with us, we all knew, it was in his best interest to find his very own family to love and adore. A long time supporter expressed interest from day one, she sent in an application and drove 3 hours to meet him. They did perfect together even under saddle. She did adopt him and is now living with an amazing equine family with 2 mares on property. We will be receiving and posting lots of great updates. This boy stole our hearts. This is what rescue is to me! Rescue, Rehab, evaluate to match up to right home, application, contract, adopt and deliver each to their new home.
If you believe in our rescue, please share, please like, please support if you can. We cannot continue without each of you!
