Thank you friends and family of Bluebonnet Equestrian Center for your support this Mother’s Day! We had an incredible team out here helping build flowerbeds, add magnesium to the arena and rake in the footing, clear out cobwebs, muck out paddock shelters, run the tractor for cleanouts, w**d whack fence lines, bag up and label horse blankets for pickup by Equine Laundry, move straw bales, clean out the horse trailer…I’m certain that I’m missing more…just WOW!

Running a training and rehab barn with a lesson program is an labor of love for the community, and we are so lucky to be part of such a wonderful one 💙

Excited to be working with Equine Laundry and hosting a new drop site in Howell! Time to bring in your muddy blankets with the broken straps for repair and waterproofing 😄

📍 NEW DROP SITE ALERT #1 🚨

We are very excited to announce the launch of a new drop site AND new route today!

Bluebonnet Equestrian Center is generously hosting a Howell drop site for Equine Laundry. They are developing new lesson/training programs at a beautiful facility, so be sure to check them out!

Bluebonnet Equestrian Center
5600 Pingree Rd.
Howell, MI
8AM — 8PM | Mon — Sat
** Proceed to the green/tan barn and enter through the people door. Once inside, place your items directly to the left. **

With the launch of this new site, we have also curated a new monthly route; the “Central Michigan” route. It’s not entirely central, so if you have a better name, please send suggestions… 😂

Anyway, this Central Michigan route will cover our Durand, Howell, and Milford drop sites on a monthly basis. Our first route for the area will be May 17th and it will operate the same as our Ann Arbor trips.

**WE ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR A DAVISON AREA DROP SITE HOST — DAVISON WOULD BE ADDED TO THIS NEW ROUTE**

Is there anything better than the absolute FOCUS and GRIT of a little girl and her pony?!

It’s so much more than riding lessons. 💙

When we moved to Michigan, it was a flurry of unpacking and then surviving our first Michigan winter. I was so excited to start riding more as we got settled in and the weather warmed up. Luna went out and did a few things with me that spring, and then as the best of the summer weather hit, she started short striding a little bit behind.

Turned out that our peak riding weather needed to be a summer of SI rehab exercises…walking in hand up and down hills all over the property, backing up, doing bodywork and stretches, using the biggest ice pack I’ve ever seen and red light therapy, and building up to gentle pole work and cavaletti.

She came sound just as the nastiest of the winter weather was coming, and I got to figure out what clothes and gear I needed to ride in the Michigan cold.

Luna has come out stronger than ever, and so much softer and more settled in her mind. As always, I am so incredibly proud of how far she has come. I have wanted to introduce her to jumping for a long time, but we had fundamentals that needed to be solid first.

So, in this humbling process of two steps forward, one step back, I am so overwhelmed to see the foundation that we have been working on for years holding us up. I know it doesn’t look like much. You’re looking at a mare who overcame a neck injury that happened at two years old, leaving her with neurological deficits and behavioral responses to pain she carried for 7 years when I first met her. She was difficult at best, dangerous at worst, and I fell in love with her immediately. Her initial rehab took nearly 2 years. I stopped cantering her for a long time because she could not hold the right lead due to her injury, and the memory of the pain set us back when I tried.

Through everything, she has given me her heart and trust. Whether it’s walking side by side through our trails while the grass is green, or figuring out how to keep my hands warm enough to hold the reins, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Watching her build her strength physically, and the confidence mentally to face obstacles without anxiety, but with boldness and the heart she’s had all along—

That’s the biggest reward I could ask for.

Thank you for sharing your wings, Luna. 💜

Duet showing off her national champ trot in this windstorm today—her dragon snorts and wheezy elephant noises crack me up 🤣 nothing like the sass of an Arabian mare, but what a gem to be able to free lunge even when it sounds like the roof is about to fly off 💜

It’s popular these days to polish a carefully presented image that leaves little room for mistakes or failures, and in doing so, crushes opportunities for growth.

We can truly appreciate the progress we’ve made by acknowledging where we started, and recognizing that the process in between is an endless commitment to accepting both the setbacks and the successes.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to show up— the ordinary rider, on the ordinary horse, on another ordinary day—and do your best, whatever that looks like today.

I’m proud of my horse, and you should be proud of yours too. Tell me about your setbacks and successes 💙
