What a whirlwind of five days of showing at the Houston shows with 19 Beaucerons entered!!! We’re exhausted, a little bruised (literally), but glad to be home with plenty to celebrate.

🦖🦖 Kraken 🦑🦑

Kraken kicked off the week by taking Winners Dog on Wednesday! 🎉🎉🥳
Unfortunately, that day he also decided to launch himself into an impressive slip-and-fall that ended with his feet in the air and him flat on his back on the hard concrete floor. 😅 Thankfully, DocRylan Holub was there to put my dog back together with an adjustment AND a laser therapy treatment Doc felt he would be sore for a few days but it would be ok to continue on with showing him.
Despite that little adventure, Kraken kept showing up despite being sore. He earned Reserve Winners Dog on Thursday and Friday, then finished his streak with Reserve Winners Dog to the 5-point major on Saturday. I’m incredibly proud of how he powered through the week.
He even picked up another title while we were there! 🎉 🎉🥳 More on that and everything else later.

While in California I had the amazing opportunity and pleasure to snag sometime with Oscar Mora . I’ve gotta say if you ever find yourself out there and can score a spot do so!!! Oscar I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to evaluate and work my puppy, your expertise is evident.

Also later that week I got to crash their IGP club and watch them work some dogs. Definitely a fun experience. Athena Kepler it seems you have produced a few beasts 😅. It’s going to be fun to follow their journey!! Thank you Ronda Franssen if it wasn’t for my trauma twin I wouldn’t have gotten the opportunities to hang out and watch!!

This week we did swim session #3 ….. All 3 showed much improvement on swim technique ESPECIALLY Eris. Both girls are retrieving bumpers fairly well. Which I’m happy about ….. Kraken will sometimes get the bumper …. other times he gets distracted with biting the water 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤣. I also decided to test Kraken on the dock.

Feral puppy decided he was jumping. I guess letting him be a wild pup with barely any rules or boundaries and letting him think he’s invincible paid off in this situation because he was all about it.

Flash forward to yesterday when I’m crashing out at the vet office …. needing a grippy sock vacation because said wild puppy was going balls to the wall with an insane case of the zoomies …. tried to do a sharp 180° and slid out on wet grass. He popped up a 3 legged dog completely non-weight-bearing on a back leg. Of course, my brain jumps to ruptured cruciate ….. cue the crash out and gut wrenching flashbacks from previous dogs that left me with massive trauma. 😭🥴🥴
Vet said ligaments seem good, X-rays showed no damage to growth plates, so just a soft tissue injury. Crate rest and leash walks for 7 days. Following up with our sports medicine vet just to be safe. Damn dogs and their lack of self preservation. 🤦🏻‍♀️😮‍💨
Figured since we were doing x-rays might as well send them off to OFA 🫠 hopefully we’ll have some good news there. 🤞🤞

My little sea monster took winners dog on Saturday for his first 2 points!!! 🥹😭😭

Completely floored me for his first big boy show going against some nice boys and also being the only Harlequin in the ring. 🙈 Oh and have I mentioned he’s slightly feral?! …. He did try to actually behave today so I’ll give him that.

This!!!! I’d rather read bad grammar and misspelled words than AI vomit that lacks the human element.

Lately we’ve been getting an influx of questionnaires that have very obviously utilized ChatGPT or another AI program to fill in the answers. And while we can definitely understand the lure of using a program like that to make your answers more eloquent, in doing so you remove the human from the equation.

Part of the process of screening questionnaires Is getting to know applicants. Some questionnaires do contain misspellings, poor grammar, and other mistakes, but along with that, the applicant inserts a little bit of themselves into their answers, and it’s that glimpse of who they are that we are looking for just as much as what’s actually written down. Using an AI program to rewrite your answer into something “fancier” gives the entire application a ring of insincerity, of fakeness, and those applications are unlikely to get a response from us. So please, take an extra moment and include your answers in your own writing and your own words, to the best of your ability.
