My wish for today. I want it to cool down and rain. There is not forecast for rain but I can still hope.

Oh boy. I just received word that Tiki's family is going to have to let him go. He's about 14 and struggles with breathing, anxiety. Time to make him comfortable and let him rest in peace. Ruth and Mack are wonderful guardians, and this decision is weighing on them. Going to miss you sweet boy. When we love a dog, this stage is so difficult. But, it is time to let go, let Tiki pass over The Rainbow Bridge. Rest in peace you dear sweet boy.

There are still 20 homes in Windfern Gardens over off of Gessner, next to the bayou, that still have no power as of today, Tuesday, July 16, 2024. We all need to pray they are not forgotten and have power shortly.

What an extraordinary opportunity! I had the honor to meet and feed a very young calf yesterday, Sunday, July 15th. Poor guy got separated from his mom and didn't eat for a while, is struggling. He had to be treated by the veterinarians at Texas A&M University. He is underweight, having issues, needing specialized care. This is me giving Beryl his noon time bottle. He's named after Hurricane Beryl, our recent storm. What an amazing experience. To get him to take the bottle, watch him chew on the ni**le, be aware of his butting head movement he would do to his mama (they do this instinctively to the bottle too). What a gorgeous baby he is. There are miracles that come from tragedies. Pray this little guy makes it! I was in hog heaven. ❤️

CenterPoint update. Power estimate is Monday evening. That'll mean almost 8 days without power. I am not happy.

I was driving through Jersey Village this evening. A petite woman with white hair was walking along a path up by her house. I looked up at her. Our eyes connected. I smiled and waved. Her face completely changed. It lit up, her eyes sparkled, a big smile grew across her face, and she waved back. A simple interaction with a big reward for her and I. We gave each other, complete strangers, a gift. A priceless one in my opinion.

Enough already. Still no power. It's getting old, running for ice two to three times a day. Was doing a Kroger ice run this morning at 6:30. I went tonight to our neighborhood convenience store. I got two bags. Only five were left. It wasn't 7 pm yet. Maybe they could have gotten us power before the weekend if it hadn't stormed. Definitely an unsafe environment for the linemen. Thunder, lightening, strong winds. Bad. Yes, I am moan8ng here. I just want AC when I sleep and for my washing machine to work. I need clean clothes, underwear. Oh and to start putting food in my fridge.

Okay. I just gotta complain. I'm hot and irritated, worn out so I think I earned the right to bitch.

How come Judge Hildago isn't sending trucks to our communities to bring water and ice. But it's ice we realky need. That's my opinion. Couldn't find ice until 11 o'clock and you have to get creative. Text friends to see what's open, what has power, who has gas, ice?

Hildago made sure she got back to Houston to make the news. I appreciate the information she provided but what are you doing for me now that the storm is gone? Nothing. The true worth of a politician is what they get done when the going is rough. Right now she is striking out! You gotta survive on your own, with the help of friends and family. They make the difference. Not our government, not our power company.
