As temperatures rise, remember that asphalt heats up much faster than the air around us. A pleasant 77°F day can mean pavement temperatures reaching 125°F — hot enough to cause burns in as little as 60 seconds.
Before heading out for a walk: 🐶 Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds. 🐶 Walk during early mornings or evenings. 🐶 Stick to grass and shaded areas when possible. 🐶 Watch for signs of discomfort like limping or excessive licking of paws.
