HOUSTON, TX (3rd Ward): SENIOR CALICO “CLEO-CATRA” LOST HER HUMAN THIS AM 7/30/25 & NEEDS A LOVING FOREVER HOME ASAP

Upon doing a welfare check today, 7/30/25, I found Cleocatra’s Mom had suddenly passed. Janet was one of my neighbors and she made me promise to care for Cleo if anything ever happened to her. Cleo was adopted from a shelter when she was 6 years old and was the apple of Janet’s eyes. Unfortunately, Janet’s family cannot take this sweet old girl in due to allergies and my dogs would definitely hurt her. Cleo deserves a living indoor environment where she can be loved and feel safe in her golden years. I used to pet sit her occasionally: she is a sweet spayed cat of about 15 years old with a bit of a shy nature but who comes for loving or brushings on her own terms. I took her to the vet a couple of months ago and we found out Cleo has kidney disease (stage 2) and so she is on Hill K/D rx kibble as she will not eat any soft food. I know she used to live with a small dog 7 or so years ago but has been a solo pet since. I do recall Janet saying she would not do well with another cat.
Please share far and wide if you know anyone looking for a senior cat who needs to be a solo cat. I will not put Cleocatra in a stressful situation in a shelter and will care for her at her house for awhile , but she needs a loving family. If nothing pans out by August 11, 2025 at the latest, I will take her to the vet to be humanely euthanized. It is not what I want to do but I will not let Cleo suffer or have a subpar quality of life. Please help me find a loving forever family who can cherish this bereft sweet girl. 🇺🇸 Fourth of July 🇺🇸 can be a really fun experience for the young and old alike, but many of our furry friends and some humans, absolutely HATE fireworks. The loud boom stirs up fear and anxiety, which in turn, makes them want to RUN FOR THEIR LIVES!

This Fourth of July, PLEASE be prepared for your animal's safety. More animals go missing that evening (and New Year's Eve), than any other nights. It's essential that you take the precautions so that your pets stay safe. Keep them indoors. They can make a run for it even when out using the grass, so keep them on a leash. Make sure they're wearing a collar WITH your name/number. Don't have a collar? Use twine, ribbon, etc and attach a duct tape makeshift tag for the night.

As a community, let's make sure less pets are lost this Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

A microchip is cheap compared to the hours spent searching or the heartbreak if something terrible happens to your pet!

We've received some helpful sighting reports, but Milo is understandably scared and unfortunately darts away, making it hard to get to him. Please do not attempt to approach him. If you see Milo, please immediately call either 281-783-9983 or 832.263.1268.

Last seen 5714 Jim Street & 290, 77097. We are incredibly thankful for our wonderful partnership with Houston Pets Alive during this difficult time. We haven't given up hope of bringing Milo home!
