I don’t even know how to start this… but we really need help right now.
We haven’t received a single adoption application in over a month. Not one. We’re about to go into April and we are still closed for intake because we simply don’t have the space.
And that’s the part that hurts the most…
Because while we are here doing everything we can for the dogs already in our care, there are dogs out there that we are having to say no to. Not because we don’t want to help—but because we physically can’t.
That never gets easier.
Donations have slowed down, and we’ve taken hit after hit financially. We’ve had unexpected medical expenses come up, and now we’re dealing with ongoing issues with our mini splits across the buildings—repairs that are costing a fortune just to keep our dogs safe and comfortable.
We had really hoped our Hill Country Raffle Giveaway would help carry us through some of this… but it didn’t bring in nearly what we needed.
And then the medical keeps coming.
One of our lifers, Sadie, just got home from the vet with a really bad UTI. Her bill alone was $592.15.
Now we have Sophia at the vet. She came in with a really high fever—it's come down some, but not enough. Blood work showed levels that shouldn’t be elevated, and the vet is still trying to figure out what’s going on. Her bill is already at $848.91… and it’s going to keep going up.
This is the reality of rescue.
There is no cushion. No backup plan.
Just us… trying to keep everything going and make sure these dogs get the care they need.
And to be completely honest, it’s been especially heavy lately.
We’ve had two heartbreaking losses. One of them we’re not even ready to talk about yet.
It feels like we keep getting hit from every direction.
But we are still here.
And we are not giving up on them.
We just… need help. Bad.
If you’ve ever thought about adopting, please take a look at our dogs. There are so many incredible ones waiting for their chance—some for far too long.
If you can’t adopt, please share our posts. That alone can change everything.
And if you’re able to donate, please consider helping us right now. Every dollar truly matters as we try to stay afloat and continue caring for these dogs who depend on us.
We know things will turn around. We just need help getting through this moment.
Thank you to the people who continue to stand by us, support us, and believe in what we do—even when things feel really hard. You are the reason we keep going. 💙🐾
