⚠️ Highlander Breed – Get the Facts, Not the Fear ⚠️
It’s always smart to research and hear opinions… but don’t be deceived by false claims.
If someone who is not a reputable Highlander breeder — and has been banned from multiple breed groups — tells you the Highlander is “nonexistent” or just a “gimmick,” and pushes you to “get one now before they’re gone,” that’s a sales ploy, not the truth.
Here are the facts:
✅ The Highlander is recognized in 4 associations.
• TICA allows non-standards. They can only be shown in HHP. The Highlander breed just hit championship with TICA this year 2025.
• Others require proof and testing that a cat meets breed standard before registration like ACFA
✅ The breed has been genetically tested for many years, going back to cats born in mid 2000s, with generations of clear, healthy lines. Which some could be older tested and I will correct if need be.
✅ Health issues only occur when untested or unhealthy lines are introduced by irresponsible breeders.
✅ There is strong diversity in the breed, and ethical breeders are working to preserve and grow it.
Yes — the economy has been hard on many breeders, and some are rebuilding with new lines or taking a hot break before coming back — but there is still a strong, dedicated community of Highlander breeders who aren’t going anywhere and we will grow.
💡 Tip: Always get your information from breeders who actively work to protect and improve the breed, not from those looking to profit from misinformation.
