One of my favorite clients ❤️ recently stayed with us for several weeks and he was a bit different...
As a professional pet caretaker and trainer one of the biggest challenges I face is convincing clients that a healthy DIET is the KEY to a happier, healthier pet. This is true of any species - parrots, dogs, cats, bunnies.
To be totally honest, most diet advice is not taken seriously. 😔 BUT those clients that DO make changes are heavily rewarded 👏 with a pet that is happier and more cooperative, less destructive, more even-tempered, and those who were not eager to move around much are suddenly much more active.
Chip, a 10 year old Maltese whom we are quite attached to, recently had a major change in his diet. He is more alert and active, no longer picky about his food, no longer shows discomfort after going on a walk, and now boasts a distinct waistline 😉. It's like watching him come alive. We could not be happier for this kid. 🥰
🤔 What's a healthy diet? Well, that depends on the species. Lots of raw veggies are great for parrots, but dogs need meat too in their diet and cats do not need any veggies in theirs. Do your research, use your common sense and start making changes.
🧠 Here's Something to Think About: Kibble/pellets are a highly processed food very similar to breakfast cereals or potato chips. What if cereal was your primary (or only) food course? How would you feel? How healthy do you think you would be? Question the norm and find a veterinarian that will support your goals.
