Harris County has seen an increase in thunderstorms these last couple of weeks, which means there’s something important to keep in mind when taking your pets out for a walk! 🐶🐾

Make sure they don't drink any stagnant floodwater or puddles! These can contain harmful bacteria, chemicals, and other toxins that could make your pets sick. 🚫💧

What a beautiful afternoon! ❤️

After three long years, this sweet pup was finally reunited with his owner — all thanks to a tiny, rice-sized microchip. 🐾

When he first arrived at our shelter as a stray, our team immediately scanned for a microchip, hoping we could get him back home. And guess what? We found one — and it was registered!

After THREE YEARS apart, these two were finally back together. He recognized his owner instantly — in his own husky way — and there were smiles (and happy tears) all around. 🐶❤️

This is your reminder: microchips matter! They can make all the difference when it comes to being reunited with your pet.

We're nearing the end of August! And, do you know what that means? 😃

We're almost done with Clear the Shelters. 🥲 We wanted to share these two special pups, Sparkle (641064) and Sparkie (641063), who've been a favorite of our foster/transfer department for some time! 😃

There are so many dogs and cats here at the shelter (nearly 700!) who are waiting for their forever homes. As a way to celebrate Clear the Shelters, we're offering reduced-cost adoptions. Come on by and meet pets like Sparkle and Sparkie. They can't wait to meet you! 🥰

Reduced fees:
Dogs and puppies: $25
Cat and kittens: $10

This weekend, we were invited to go out to Evelyn Meador Library Branch to speak to the community about responsible pet ownership, while letting them meet a few of our shelter pups. 🐶
