A throwback to one of our oldest and most outlandish programs from 40 years ago, Animal Rhapsody spotlights the incredible talents of the furry, feathered, slithery, and scaly.

Bring the whole family for an afternoon of animal action, a locally crafted vendor market, a pop-up art show, and just like the original 1984 Animal Rhapsody, stage performance by the legendary MyDolls! A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit Barrio Dogs and their mission to creating a better future for animals and the community.

Think your pet has what it takes to steal the show (and our hearts)? We want to see them in action!
Do you create animal-related art? We want to showcase you in our pop-up exhibition!

From the very beginning of Angel's work as a therapy dog, she had a constant seasoned therapy dog companion. Her name was Andie and she passed away this weekend from cancer at 13.5 years old. Andie, therapy dog, taught Angel the ropes of therapy dog work. We loved her very much and we know her family is missing her immensely. Andie, little Princess, fly. Angel will meet you at Rainbow Bridge. We love you.

Pets, it turns out, also have last wishes before they die, but this is known only known by veterinarians who euthanize old and sick animals.

Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a veterinarian what was the most difficult part of his job.

The specialist answered, without hesitation, that it was hardest for him to see how old or sick animals look for their owners with their eyes before going to sleep.

He said the fact is 90 % of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so that they don't see their pet leave this life. But they don't realize that it's in these last moments of life that their pet needs them the most.

Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end. ′′It's unbelievable that they die before you. But don’t forget that you were the center of their life. Maybe they were just a part of you, but they are also your family. No matter how hard it is, please don't leave them. Don’t let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they don’t know.”

“It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life. They don’t understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their owner’s consolation.”

Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but the veterinarians are completely strangers to them. “Don't be afraid and leave your pet because it's too painful for you. Think about the pet. Endure this pain for their sake. Be with them until the end.”
