🔥 HEAT STROKE IN PETS: KNOW THE SIGNS — IT CAN HAPPEN FAST 🔥
Heat stroke is a true medical emergency and can develop in minutes. Please never leave your pets in a parked car on a warm day—even for a “quick stop.” Cars heat up dangerously fast, even in the shade or with windows cracked.
But it’s not just cars—garages, attics, rooftops, and even backyards can become heat traps quickly.
💧 Prevention is key:
Always make sure your pets have access to:
Fresh, cool water
Shade
Proper airflow or ventilation
They depend on us to keep them safe.
⚠️ SIGNS OF HEAT DISTRESS / HEAT STROKE:
Increased re**al temperature
Anxiety or restlessness
Heavy/vigorous panting and/or drooling
Dark red gums, tongue, or mouth
Dizziness or disorientation
Collapse or loss of consciousness
Lying down and unable or unwilling to get up
🚨 IF YOU SUSPECT HEAT STROKE: ACT IMMEDIATELY
Remove your pet from the hot environment
Contact your primary care veterinarian or nearest emergency clinic right away
While en route to care:
Begin cooling with room temperature water (avoid ice-cold water)
Increase airflow using a fan or A/C
Stop active cooling once your pet’s re**al temperature reaches 103.5°F.
⚠️ Heat stroke can cause severe internal organ damage—even if your pet seems to recover. Immediate veterinary care is always recommended.
