A MEGA adoption event is happening in Houston next month. Thousands of adoptable animals will be available for adoption to go home those days! BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions will be there along with various other shelters- all with great pets. This thing is going to be huge! Volunteers are always needed to help with events like these.

If you are looking to adopt sooner than then, check out BARC-O-Ween happening at BARC this Saturday.

BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions and many volunteers did an amazing thing last night! Look at all these dogs that didn't have to spend another night out on the street.

With that being said, the long stay dogs are going to be on the euthanasia list more and more because the shelter only has capacity for so many dogs at once.

Please get the word out that fosters and adopters are desperately needed. Even if one of these dumped dogs gets out of the shelter before a long stay dog, there is less of a chance for that long stay dog to be on the euthanasia list.

Looking for a lost pet or to adopt, foster or help local shelter pets in Houston? 🐾

If you’re familiar with the City of Houston shelter, BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions, here are some volunteer pages posting animals and statistics at BARC:

🆕️🐶🐱 NEW INTAKES: Save Dog Souls posts new intakes in one place making it easier for owners to find lost pets and for adopters or rescues looking for specific breeds.

📑📊 STATISTICS & TRANSPARENCY: Houston Pet Crisis breaks down intake numbers and euthanasia rates into easy-to-read posts using public data from BARC's site and other public websites.

🆘🌈 EUTHANASIA LISTS: Check the pinned comment for several dedicated pages sharing pets with hours left. Each reaches different people and different times when every minute counts!

❤️ LONG-STAY DOGS (THIS PAGE): This page focuses on the dogs in the middle. The ones who are waiting day after day while being overlooked. They deserve attention too. 💔
I'm open to suggestions as to how to make the page and the posts better and how to reach more people to show that the dogs in the middle, between intake and euthanasia, need assistance too.

Also, do you know another page dedicated to helping BARC pets? Drop the link or page name in the comments so I can check them out and possibly add it to the list!
