๐ Amanda Richmond Rogers died the way she lived โ with love, courage, and a heart full of grace.
She was a mother of four.
A hospice nurse for terminally ill children.
A woman who gave her whole life to othersโฆ and in the end, gave everything for her dog.
On a snowy December morning in Eagle River, Alaska, Amanda was celebrating her 18th wedding anniversary with her husband, Brian. Their dog, Groot, wandered onto the frozen river and fell through the ice.
Brian dove in first and managed to get out. But moments later, Amanda plunged into the water herself determined to save the dog she loved like family.
She never resurfaced.
For months, search teams scoured the freezing waters. And when they finally found her on Palm Sunday Amanda was still cradling Groot in her arms.
Her family said she didnโt hesitate. Thatโs who she was.
A nurse. A protector. A mother. A rescuer to the end.
๐๏ธ Amandaโs boys say she died a hero. And theyโre right.
She taught us that love isnโt just about words itโs about action. Even in the coldest places, compassion burns bright.
Rest in peace, Amanda. Your light lives on.
