Firework season is coming, and now is the time to start preparing, not the night the fireworks begin.

Every year, shelters see an increase in lost pets after fireworks, and many dogs experience unnecessary stress because their families simply weren’t prepared.

Taking a few simple steps before the fireworks start can help keep your pets safe, comfortable, and at home where they belong.

Apparently my bandana display has been stuck in fall since November. 🍂😅

I’ve been looking at this task on my mental to-do list for months, and when I finally tackled it, it took less than five minutes.

Funny how often the things we avoid are the quickest things to fix.

Several people have asked how I organize my bandanas, so here’s a little peek behind the scenes!

Storage Tips:
• Out-of-season bandanas are folded into stacks and stored in gallon-size zip-top bags.
• I use a small handheld vacuum to remove most of the air, which keeps them compact and helps keep hair and dust off of them.
• The bags are then sorted by season and stored in a box until it’s time to rotate them back out.
• Current bandanas are displayed on wall-mounted floral arrangement holders (yes, they’re actually meant for flowers! 😂). The openings are the perfect size to weave bandanas through, making them easy to see, grab, and restock throughout the day.

These sweet girls stopped by for one of my favorite maintenance services—a Blue Ribbon Bath! A good bath, blow dry, and brush out can go a long way toward keeping your dog looking and feeling their best between grooming appointments.

Welcome to the Sarah Moon Grooms family, KEEKO! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

This handsome boy made the trip from Austin to spend the afternoon with me, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him.

Keeko has the kind of coat texture American Cocker groomers dream about—but with that great texture comes some unique growth patterns that made this groom a fun and rewarding challenge.

Every dog is an individual, and part of the art is working with the coat they were given while still highlighting those beautiful breed characteristics.

We’re off to a great start, and I’m looking forward to developing this trim over the next few appointments so Keeko can truly shine his best.

Yesterday, Jake and I made the trip to Sugar Land to hand Duke off for the next chapter of his journey.

When Kristi and I started this project, I promised her I would treat Duke like he was one of my own. That promise made recommending the right handler incredibly important.

I’ve known Chuy for several years, and there is no one I would rather see on the other end of the lead. Duke is headed into very capable hands, and I couldn’t be more excited to watch what the future holds for this special little dog.

Good luck, Duke. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.

A huge thank you to .dixon_groomer for being such a wonderful host and making everyone feel welcome at Houndtown Grooming Spaw.

Thank you to my co-instructor, Jacob , for entertaining the idea of spending the day teaching alongside me. It was an absolute blast.

And most importantly, thank you to every student who joined us—both familiar faces and first-time attendees. The lecture and demonstration may set the foundation, but true confidence is built during the hands-on portion. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching that confidence grow throughout the day, and it was amazing to see so many lightbulb moments happen in the room.

Thank you all for trusting us with your education. We had a great time, and I can’t wait to see where these new skills take you.🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
