This is Luma…my heart dog! Momma and grandma to all the puppies ever born on her 9 year watch! She is a mom to so many amazing puppies who have grown up to be the best family pets, show dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support dogs!!! She is retired and living her best life! She’s the sweetest girl and I’m so proud of the legacy she has made for Aurelia Retrievers! ❤️ if you have a Luma baby, please share a picture and/or a story if you want. Just to remind everyone NOT to get their goldens shaved for summer!!!
It seems like “they would be more comfortable” but that is completely the opposite!
Goldens have a double coat that keeps them warm in the winter, but that coat also keeps them cooler in the summer and protects them from the sun.
Please dont shave your golden, but rather keep cool water close by as well as opportunities to jump in some water if they want to! ❤️

A summer haircut may help you feel more comfortable during hot, humid summer weather, but it won't have the same effect on your pet. Update on Mango! He got to come home late yesterday afternoon and he is soooo happy to be home! We are trying to take it easy, but with two girls in heat…well there’s a lot of barking and whining going on 🤦‍♀️🤣❤️❤️ sorry Mango, no more hanky panky for a while so we don’t bust any stitches!!
Mango and I want to say thanks to everyone for your prayers and support!

Update on Mango. He is moving around better today but still dealing with some loose stools. Vet wants to keep him at least another day to monitor his temperature for infection. ❤️

Well we had a close call today…Mango had to have emergency surgery this morning! 😢
I noticed he didn’t seem like he felt good for the past couple of days. Vet trip revealed he had an obstruction. In my 25 years of raising goldens, this is the first time I have had a dog eat a toy!
(I know I’ve been very lucky) He found a puppy sized rope toy in the back yard (I’m assuming from the last litter) and apparently decided it was a delicious snack…🤦‍♀️
So please keep my sweetest boy in your thoughts and pray for a complete and speedy recovery! He is stable now but will have to stay for a couple of nights for IV antibiotics and fluids.
