WHAT'S GETTING LOW AT THE FARM? β CURRENT NEEDS & PROJECT UPDATE πΎπ
Good afternoon, everyone! π
We figured we'd do this update a little differently, without posting the same "fit arm needs" post. π
With hundreds of animals in our care, supplies can disappear amazingly fast β and right now there are several things we're getting pretty low on.
π½π OUR BIGGEST IMMEDIATE NEED
We are currently down to just:
πππ 3 bags of All-Stock Feed
We've also worked through our current supply of:
π½ Chicken Scratch
π΄ Horse Feed
π₯ Chick Feed
π½ Corn
And we currently really need:
π± Dry Cat Food
We DID receive some wonderful donations of wet cat food and wet dog food, and we are extremely grateful! π
π₯« Wet/canned cat food is always needed, though, because we have several special-needs cats who can only eat wet food. We use it every day and go through it quickly.
Really, ANY animal feed is greatly appreciated. Even if it isn't one of the items at the very top of today's list, chances are pretty good somebody here eats it. πππππ·π΄
And before anyone worries when they see us say we're "low," I want to make something VERY clear:
β€οΈ OUR ANIMALS ARE ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF.
When we say we're low on something, that does NOT mean an animal will go without food if donations don't come in.
We post our current needs so those who want to help know what we use most and what would help us replenish our supplies.
If something runs out, we purchase what our animals need. Their care never depends on whether a donation comes through. β€οΈ
Donations help offset those expenses and allow the farm's operating funds to stretch further toward veterinary care, rescue expenses, repairs, utilities, maintenance, and the approximately 8,742 unexpected things a farm manages to need every month. π
Right now, our feed needs include:
πππ All-Stock Feed β only 3 bags remaining
π½ Chicken Scratch
π΄ Horse Feed
π₯ Chick Feed
π½ Corn
π± Dry Cat Food
π₯« Wet/Canned Cat Food
ANY BRAND. ANY SIZE. π
A large bag helps.
A small bag helps.
A case of canned food helps.
Even a few individual cans help.
It ALL adds up.

πΎπ HAY β AND WE MAY HAVE A HUGE OPPORTUNITY!
Our regular hay loads are currently $340 each, and with the number of livestock here, hay goes FAST.
We are incredibly grateful to the anonymous supporter who recently paid our entire previous $620 hay balance. ππΎ
That covered:
πΎ $280 β remaining balance from the load we received immediately before the wildfire
πΎ $340 β our most recent load
But we also have some REALLY GOOD NEWS!
Our friend and longtime supporter Hunter Jones has generously offered to DONATE ROUND BALES OF HAY TO THE FARM! ππππΎ
This could make a tremendous difference in our ongoing hay expenses.
Hunter is approximately 2Β½ hours from the farm, so our biggest challenge right now is simply getting the hay here.
The good news is:
πΎ The hay is being donated.
π We have a 20-foot bumper-pull flatbed trailer that can be used.
π We now have a way to temporarily store and protect the hay once we get it here.
We are down to ONE missing piece:
π A truck capable of safely hauling it.
Unfortunately, our F-150 can't safely pull our 20-foot trailer loaded with a large load of round bales, especially for a trip of about 2Β½ hours each way.
We're not willing to overload the truck or take an unnecessary safety risk to get the hay here.
So we're asking:
π DOES ANYONE HAVE A PROPERLY EQUIPPED TRUCK AND WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP US HAUL IT?
We already have the trailer available. We need someone with a truck that can safely tow it loaded with the round bales.
At this point:
πΎ Hunter has the hay.
π He's DONATING it to the farm.
π We have the trailer.
π We have temporary storage.
π We need some horsepower and a helping hand to connect the two! π
If you can help with transportation, PLEASE message us.
And if you can't haul it yourself, sharing this post may help us reach someone who can!
Transportation help would be a donation to the farm in its own right. Getting these round bales here could significantly reduce our ongoing hay costs. ππΎ
Sometimes helping the immediate farm isn't about writing a check...
Sometimes we need somebody with a big truck. πππΎ
Until we're able to get the donated round bales here, anyone wanting to contribute toward our regular hay can donate directly to our account with:
πΎ Pine Haven Stables & Riding Academy β Christy Parker
π± Venmo:
Please put:
"M&B Farm & Hatchery Inc."
in the comments so it is properly credited to our account.
And nobody has to purchase an entire $340 load!
πΎ $5 helps.
πΎ $10 helps.
πΎ $25 helps.
πΎ $50 helps.
ββββββββββββββββββ
πππ LIVESTOCK SHELTERS β $790 REMAINING
Hunter is also allowing us to purchase several ready-made livestock shelters that we can use immediately for our goats and sheep.
We have the opportunity to purchase:
π 3 Calf Hutches β $450 total
π 2 Calf Domes β $250 each / $500 total
That's:
ππ 5 READY-MADE LIVESTOCK SHELTERS β $950 TOTAL
And we've already made progress!
π° TOTAL GOAL: $950
π DONATED: $160
π REMAINING: $790
While they're designed for calves, they'll provide excellent additional shelter for our goats and sheep.
And one of the biggest advantages?
WE DON'T HAVE TO BUILD THEM. ππ¨
Five additional shelters built from scratch would require lumber, roofing, hardware, screws, equipment, transportation, construction time, and a LOT of workforce.
These are already built. Once we can move them here, we can use them immediately.
We're also still financially recovering from the wildfire evacuation earlier this year. Evacuating hundreds of animals across multiple counties for nearly two weeks was incredibly expensive, and coming home didn't make those expenses disappear.
We've continued operating the rescue, feeding hundreds of animals, making repairs, and taking in animals who need somewhere safe to go.
That's why opportunities like this are so valuable.
And PLEASE don't see $790 remaining and think one person has to cover it.
They absolutely don't!
π $5 helps.
π $10 helps.
π $25 helps.
π $50 helps.
A bunch of smaller donations working together can accomplish something pretty incredible.
If donating specifically toward these, please put:
"Livestock Shelters"
in the memo/comment.
And another HUGE thank-you to Hunter.
Between the shelters and his offer to donate round bales, he's helping us work toward solutions for two major livestock needs at onceβshelter AND hay. ππππΎ

πͺ΅ TRUE CUT SAW WORKS β $580

π² $580

ββββββββββββββββββ
ππ RAINBOW BRIDGE PET CREMATIONS β $780 REMAINING
Unfortunately, this balance has increased again.
Our previous balance was $650, which included Beauty's cremation.
Since then, we also lost our sweet Jerry. ππ
Jerry's cremation is another $130, bringing our current balance to:
π $780 REMAINING
This is one of those expenses we wish we never had to post about.
End-of-life care is one of the hardest realities of operating an animal rescue and sanctuary.
Many animals who come to us are elderly, sick, injured, have special needs, or need somewhere safe to spend whatever time they have left.
When that time comes, we believe they deserve the same dignity and care at the end of their lives that we try to give them while they're here.
Jerry was especially difficult for our family. He had been with us for more than three years and wasn't just another animal here at the farm. He was part of our family and touched the lives of so many children through our school and church visits. ππ
Rainbow Bridge Pet Cremations graciously allows us to carry a balance and make payments toward our account.
If someone wants to contribute specifically toward Jerry's cremation, you can put "Jerry" or "cremation" in the memo.
If a donation is made directly to Rainbow Bridge without a memo, that's okay tooβit will be credited toward our overall balance.
ββββββββββββββββββ
πΎπ DOG KENNEL GATE PROJECT β $349.96 REMAINING
This project is still on our list!
We originally needed one new gate and four lockable latches.
π One latch has already been taken care of!
We still need:
π 1 Γ CountyLine 12-ft Wire Gate β $259.99
π 3 Γ CountyLine 2-Way Lockable Gate Latches β $29.99 each
π² TOTAL REMAINING: $349.96
You can purchase these directly through Tractor Supply online and select store pickup.
PLEASE message us if you purchase the gate or any of the latches so we can update our list and don't accidentally receive more than we need.
ββββββββββββββββββ
π TRACTOR SUPPLY GIFT CARDS
Tractor Supply gift cards are ALWAYS greatly appreciated!
We use them for feed, fencing, hardware, animal supplies, maintenance, repairs, projects, and all those unexpected farm expenses that somehow appear out of nowhere. π
