Pets can’t tell us when something feels off.

Routine bloodwork can catch changes early, sometimes before symptoms show up and helps us build a clearer picture of your pet’s health over time.

Ask us about early disease detection bloodwork at your next visit.

Fleas and ticks become more active as temperatures rise.

Even indoor pets can be exposed through other pets, clothing, or quick outdoor trips.

The easiest way to avoid these pests is by staying consistent with prevention year round.

We've covered a lot about dental health this month! Let's recap:
Dental disease affects most pets by age three. It causes real pain and impacts the whole body. Professional cleanings under anesthesia are the gold standard. At-home care helps maintain results between cleanings. Signs of problems include bad breath, difficulty eating, and behavior changes. Senior pets benefit from dental care too.
If you haven't scheduled your pet's dental exam yet, February isn't over! And dental health matters year-round, not just in February.
Don't let another year go by with untreated dental disease. Your pet will feel better, and you'll have peace of mind.

February is also Heart Month. And guess what affects heart health? Dental disease. 💓
The link between oral bacteria and heart disease is well-established in both humans and pets. Bacteria from the mouth enter the bloodstream and can cause issues with heart valves (endocarditis), contribute to heart murmurs, and worsen existing heart conditions.
Some heart murmurs improve after dental cleanings once oral infection is resolved. Regular dental care is actually part of heart disease prevention.
If your pet already has heart disease, dental care becomes even more important. We take extra precautions, but the risks of untreated dental infection often outweigh anesthesia concerns.
Protect your pet's heart. Start with their mouth.

Let's clear up some common dental myths: 🚫

MYTH: Dry food cleans teeth.
TRUTH: Most pets swallow kibble whole. It doesn't scrub teeth like people think.

MYTH: Bad breath is normal for pets.
TRUTH: It's the first sign of dental disease and oral infection.

MYTH: If they're eating fine, their teeth are fine.
TRUTH: Pets eat through pain. By the time they stop eating, disease is severe.

MYTH: Anesthesia-free dentistry works just as well.
TRUTH: It only cleans visible surfaces and misses disease below the gums. Plus it's stressful and can be dangerous without sedation.
Don't let myths keep your pet from getting the care they need.

"My pet is too old for anesthesia" is something we hear a lot. Let's talk about it.

Age itself isn't a disease. Modern anesthesia is incredibly safe with proper protocols: pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids, monitoring throughout, and appropriate drug selection.

The question isn't "Is my pet too old?" It's "What's riskier: anesthesia or living with painful dental disease?"

Infected teeth hurt. Bacteria spread to organs. Quality of life suffers. Many senior pets feel years younger after dental treatment because they're finally pain-free.

We'll assess your senior pet individually and discuss the real risks and benefits.
