Here is a little more information about "Honey" and "Peely", my two ball pythons. I had no idea that they are called Royal Pythons in England!

The ball python (Python regius), as it is often called in the United States, or the royal python as it is known in the United Kingdom and much of Europe, has easily become one of the most popular pet snake species. These humble little pythons are native to sub-Saharan Africa, preferring grassland savannah type habitats.

Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors. Among the very smallest of Africa's python species, ball pythons typically grow to lengths of around 3.5 to 4.5 feet, with exceptionally large individuals exceeding 5 feet. While these are measurements that may give people unfamiliar with snakes some pause, even the largest ball pythons will stay under about 5 lbs in weight. They are politely sized pythons, with a generally docile demeanor. They can be shy, but reasonably simple to provide for well.

Most commonly found in the wild in shades of dark brown patterned with light brown, ball pythons do have considerable variations in color and pattern. Under human care, many of these simply inherited variations (morphs) in color and pattern have been intentionally bred for, and combined to create nearly unlimited designer, or combo morphs, adding to their already significant appeal as pets.
